The sound design is bad, and while there are a couple good scenes towards the end, every episode of S1 has better animation than the best episode of S2. Specifically the way Genos' arms and other metal things look is way off. That's contrasted with S2 having a better overarching story and a very interesting villain.

In my opinion, it’s in a similar boat to demon slayer for me where the animation is the only thing I’m enjoying from it. But if they drop it oh well, i won’t be stressed about it

Believe it or not, I've heard/read plenty of americans saying exactly that or something very similar.WHt they fail to recognize is that the concept of "continent" isn't purely geographical anymore but also cultural and political; U.K might technically not be part of the landmass that is Europe, but it's definitely an european nation culturally speaking, brexit or not. I mean, that's why anglo-americans are still consideren "european descendants" in the U.s.

Of course it does have issues like the sound design which is actually pretty bad, the compositing especially on Genos' arms and the fact the studio was given very little time to make it so it lacks polish with more limited animation. It also suffered from heavy dimming and ghosting which resulted in well animated scenes being called bad animation from ignorant people.

Season 2 has my favorite character in the story by far, a character that has far more emotional depth and real-world thematic meaning than anyone in Season 1. A character that actually makes me feel things, and is relatable. A character that I cheer for when he comes on screen. A character whose antagonistic motivations are grounded in something deeper than being a hero for fun, or seeking vengeance against a past enemy.
