It's the problem of amazing art trying to be adapted to film, Vagabond and Berserk being some of the most famous examples. Yusuke Murata is an absolutely insane artist and many of OPM's panels are some of the greatest in the business.

It's also a fantastic starting point for new fans as the first half of the movie covers the DBZ origins very very well. And yes the DB Super movies are canon, so it's very much worth it!

Just don't expect the same level of animation as s1, but s2 is still a good watch. I'm not head over heels for great animation so maybe that's why i still liked season 2

2024-05-22 16:45:17 +0000 UTCThe reason why the quality dropped in Season 2 is because the anime was handed over to J.C. Staff, another studio, who had a lot on their plate with other anime projects and didn't have a lot of staff. Another big reason is time, animators weren't given enough sufficient amount of time due to scheduling which made the studio rush and thus making it difficult to create good animations. Fortunately, they had animators like Kenichiro Aoki, who is very talented and literally carried the season. Some of the best animated scenes were done by him. He also made the season 3 trailer, which imo was very well done. Ultimately, The animators did what they could with the amount of resources they had, and season 2 isn't as bad as some people make it out to be, but it's inevitable since it will always be compared to Season 1.
