Hey everyone! Scooting in here at the end of the week, but with a little time to spare. This week's update clip actually shows two new features.
The more obvious one is camera shake. It's easy to go overboard with this effect but I've kept it very quick and minimal just to help punch up the feeling of being hit. It will also trigger when the player destroys the last enemy.
Feature number 2 is not as visually noticeable, but will make a big difference in gameplay. When the player is hit, they will become invulnerable for about a second, and all enemy projectiles will be destroyed within a small radius. In previous builds it was possible to get hit by two or even three projectiles at once, which is way unfair (and not how the real Nier does it).
What's next? I promised I'd start getting into more of the art side of things, and that starts with creating a list of all required artwork. So here's all of the major screen-filling illustrations that need to be done:
Intro background. A quick setup of the scene to give the action some context.
Main background. This will be the location where most of the animation takes place. Likely to be very similar to the intro.
F-Mode transformation. I'm hoping to actually make this into a super-quick animation. For players who choose the (completely optional) futa mode, this will be a nice dramatic cutaway to show her transforming.
Then there's allllll the endings. Rather than retype all of these, take a look at the full storyboard below. (Spoiler alert).

Whew, that's a lot of drawing to do! Of course I also need to start working on creating some actual levels and getting the real dialogue into place...but next week drawing comes first!
