ABOUT THE CHANNEL
- For our next episode, I have a film aesthetic video planned, in the same vein as our video on Parasite. The film in question is overlooked by the general public, which is a shame. Hopefully our next video can convince you to give it a shot. It's a film well worth a watch.
- It seems like twice a month, insomnia hits me hard. This time it really affects my productivity. The outline for the episode is done, but the script has yet to be finished. As such, some delay may occur, but shouldn't be too bad.
- It's for the same reason I wasn't able to be too active on discord lately. Sorry for the absence. I'll be more active as soon as I feel better. Hopefully you are all doing good as well.
ABOUT MEDIA
- There are a few topics I get requests for all the time. These are the topics I never feel I have the knowledge to talk about. So let's talk about them here.
- Anime: Unfortunately, I'm not a big anime fan. The last anime I finished was Fullmetal Alchemist FA. And the only long form anime I watched was Hikaru No Go, unless you count Dragon Ball Kai (and Abridged, I guess)
- If there's ever going to an episode on anime, I think I'll stick to anime movies the way I did with Tokyo Godfathers. I can talk about older classics like Akira and Ghost in the Shell, or newer films like Your Name.
- I did at one point want to talk about different versions of Death Note. Comparing the Japanese live action adaptation to the Netflix atrocity seems like a fun exercise.
- TV shows: Just like anime, I'm not a big TV fan. I don't even remember what's the last TV show I watched to completion. I find myself lacks the commitment needed to finish a TV show beginning to end. A show as good as Breaking Bad only held my attention to the middle of season 2.
- There are one show that I want to talk about, however: The Longest Night in Chang'an. It's a Chinese period piece TV show. It's on YouTube with English subtitles, so you can literally watch it right now.
- I saw bits and pieces of the show and was blown away by its production value. The art direction and the cinematography is excellent. And the dialogues are very well written. If I find the motivation to watch it, I might just break the rule and make an Accented Television video.
- Another related idea I had is comparing the different depiction of the Battle of Red Cliff. The source text, the John Woo movie, The TV shows (there's two of them) and the anime (yes there is an anime) all adapt this Three Kingdoms story slightly differently. It'll be interesting to explain why I'm not a big fan of John Woo's Red Cliff.
- Video Games: Some viewers seem to really like the Minecraft video we made. We currently have no plan of doing another gaming video. Maybe we'll come back with another one next April.
- Currently I don't have any capture devices, and my PC just hit a decade old. The Minecraft video was actually recorded with Switch's internal recording function, which is highly compressed.
- So unless I'm ready to do a lot more gaming videos, I can't really justify buying an capture card and additional hard drives.
- Still, I do have other topics I'd like to explore. The two main ones is "Animal Crossing is a Horror Game" and an exploration on why Breath of the Wild looks choppy but feels beautiful.
So we hit July, and half the year is gone. What a crazy year it has been. Hopefully, things will get better, and progress will be made. Stay safe! I'll see you in a few days, with a visually interesting episode.
Oh an take a guess what movie I'll be talking about.
