[Weekly Update] September 27th, 2020

September is almost over, and so is 2020. How was your new year resolution? I can't tell you mind, because I don't even remember what my resolution is lol. I guess it was to finish my first feature script.

But then I abandoned it with about 10 pages left to finish, and started a second script. Oh 2020, you are full of surprises.

Anyway, this is all I have for today! For our next video, I'll be talking about an anime film no one in the west ever talked about.

Also stay tuned for our Patreon bonus video in a few days!

What other country makes great horror films? Right after J-Horror peaked and we got that glut of cheaply packaged rip-offs, I felt the horror torch got passed on to France. In the mid to late aughts, they had a series of great horror films: Inside, Haute Tension, Ils (Them), Martyrs, and -- my favorite -- Calvaire. Canuxploitations? I'm not familiar with the movement, but I did want to plug a film I saw at a film festival in 2005: The Dark Hours. It's very much of its time, but it still sticks with me, 15 years later. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9ihF6eqzcY Let me know about Hong Kong or Taiwanese films that get suggested to you. I feel so out of the loop. And, now to seek out Pee-Mak.
