[Episode] Eat Drink Man Woman: What is a Chinese Family

When Ang Lee made this movie, it's very likely that he wanted to attract an international audience through the mouth watering depictions of food. It certainly works. This is one of the most famous Taiwanese films to date. But it also kinda back fired, because conversations about the movie are almost always about food and less about its story theme: Family.

It's not particularly difficult to watch, but it's a very dense movie, with layers of hidden meanings that are hard to decipher, especially if you are unfamiliar with Taiwanese and the broader Chinese culture. So, let me share my take on this film, and hopefully make this film just a bit better for you!
