I'd always intended for Joyce's first f-bomb to be an accidental, casual thing. It's funnier that way! And more true to life. I just wanted it to slip out of her mouth one day. But when drawing the kidnapping story, I briefly considered deterring from the plan to give her her first f-bomb here. I mean, if you're gonna swear, it's a good time to do so.

But 1) I already did the MEANINGFUL CURSING during the first Becky kidnapping story, which caused Joyce to shout "GODDAMMIT!" to the heavens. We're just repeating that here. No new ground is tread, really. And 2) this kidnapping story needs to move forward and there's no breathing room to consider Joyce's f-bomb. So I'd just be wasting it.

And so I drew Joyce back to a simple "goddamned" and saved her first f-bomb for a future time as originally planned. Too bad, though, woulda been on my birthday.

Why did I settle on the f-bomb dropping yesterday? well to tell the truth i just kind of accidentally wrote her an f-bomb, realized what i'd done, realized... wait, this is exactly what i wanted, actually, and so then kept it

it was literally on accident, and i had that narrative room to explore it now

plus, like, the ongoing theme of this storyline is whether we remain ourselves as we change, so wait i should erase those past few paragraphs so i seem smarter and plan-ier YES I DID IT ON PURPOSE AT THIS POINT IN THE STORY, I AM THE WRITING MASTER

Sometimes David... God chooses to enact his perfect will through an imperfect agent.

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the times I did things deliberately and claimed they were accidents. They may have been declared as accidents on purpose, but I know they were very much not accidents. Also, I think the claims I had done stuff accidentally on purpose came first. Possibly even the times I was framed and it was characterized like that.

Congratulations on doing something accidentally on purpose on purpose. When I was little, my siblings would accuse me of doing things accidentally on purpose. I protested if it was an accident, it wasn't on purpose. And they never were things I did on purpose. About half the time, I hadn't realized I had. And, looking back, knowing how my brother behaved... I suspect that I hadn't, that I had been framed. I mean, there were times when I knew he framed me for stuff, why did I not suspect him of framing me for things when I wasn't aware of the action? But this shows how doing something accidentally could have been intended, and how one could actually pull it off. I never did something like that. I'm not trying to say i was always good. But many of those things just weren't things I was imaginative enough to have chosen as my thing to accidentally do.
