I'd always intended for Joyce's first f-bomb to be an accidental, casual thing. It's funnier that way! And more true to life. I just wanted it to slip out of her mouth one day. But when drawing the kidnapping story, I briefly considered deterring from the plan to give her her first f-bomb here. I mean, if you're gonna swear, it's a good time to do so.
But 1) I already did the MEANINGFUL CURSING during the first Becky kidnapping story, which caused Joyce to shout "GODDAMMIT!" to the heavens. We're just repeating that here. No new ground is tread, really. And 2) this kidnapping story needs to move forward and there's no breathing room to consider Joyce's f-bomb. So I'd just be wasting it.

And so I drew Joyce back to a simple "goddamned" and saved her first f-bomb for a future time as originally planned. Too bad, though, woulda been on my birthday.
Why did I settle on the f-bomb dropping yesterday? well to tell the truth i just kind of accidentally wrote her an f-bomb, realized what i'd done, realized... wait, this is exactly what i wanted, actually, and so then kept it

it was literally on accident, and i had that narrative room to explore it now
plus, like, the ongoing theme of this storyline is whether we remain ourselves as we change, so wait i should erase those past few paragraphs so i seem smarter and plan-ier YES I DID IT ON PURPOSE AT THIS POINT IN THE STORY, I AM THE WRITING MASTER
