Really excited about the pottery projects! I share your concern about the future of historic sites and reenacting events. I also agree wholeheartedly that our country's history is even more important now than ever.

As if you weren't busy enough already, how about digging a well at the cabin? Always been interested in knowing how they were constructed, but haven't been able to find any good information out there on the www. LOVE all the videos and all the merchandise I've purchased thus far!

I can't wait to see some pottery and Blacksmith work. I've tried to make clay from our local soil with some success, The firing process is what get's me, I've blown up quite a few pieces in the fire pit. I started blacksmithing around a year ago and that is really enjoyable.

We are still deciding about which way to go. I think we will harvest a bit more bark and then plan on doing split shingles for long term.

How does the height of the chimney affect the draw? Something to consider....

Are you going to have to peel more trees to repair or reinforce the cabin roof or do you have a different plan to improve it?

I was thinking it needs chickens. π

Taller chimney is a safety feature too. Makes it less likely that live embers will land on the roof. Might want to look at that, and maybe go even higher than a foot?
Really looking forward to what's coming!

Thank you for caring enough to protect history. I think what people need to remember is that history is both the good and the bad, and learning important lessons from our mistakes and celebrating the things our ancestors did well is what is important.

Yes, a cabin oven is also on the list as well as a small garden plot.

Thank you Jon! That all sounds exciting! I also believe in the importance of history. I would also be interested in supporting other museums/reenactment sites etc that you may recommend. I am only just getting into this community, but love what you do. Thank you again :)

It's OK if you stay local. Don't attempt to take on the worries of the other historic sites. You can help beyond your circle.... when you have the ability and "family" in order. Can't take on everyone's troubles. Though we all try.
I love to see updates on your cabin projects and do more recipe videos. Recipe history videos is the reason I decided to watch your channel. :) Most of all, stay safe.

Oh Jon THANK YOU! This little family is an anchor of sanity. And YES I believe history is more important than ever now. I think the pottery making at the cabin would be marvelous! How about making a new earthen oven and baking at the cabin? Another idea would be to plant a homestead garden, corn, wheat, lettuce and such? I was hoping for the river canoe trip - but I think it is better to stay closer to the cabin. Yes lets all put our heads to gather and think about how we can best help the historic sights to weather this maelstrom. Peace, love and good health to all. XOXO

Exciting ideas for your location! Especially the wonderful clay you have right there to make pottery with. I am looking forward to videos on that! It's a great idea to explore how to help historic sites right now. Maybe throw the idea out to folks at the Nutmeg Tavern on Friday and see what great ideas the listeners have! This community is exceptional. Thank you all for creating it!
