You hear some name, you think you got the sauce, then they totally fuck with it and take it in a whole 'nother direction. Imagine if you're watching a show about Thor and suddenly they tell you that Thor was the adopted son and Loki was the real blood son. If you didn't know the back-story, you wouldn't understand how much they fucked with the original sauce

But a show like this one, you could take the theories and the scheming of a reaction to this particular show from a 7 to a 10 with a bit more background knowledge. Basically I hope you guys do your best, love you guys and want you guys to be the absolute best you can be!!!!!

I think if you know nothing at all about the Bible and you watch this show, that's not a blind reaction but an ignorant reaction. For example, in season 1, you guys heard the name of Lucifer was a general like two or three episodes before he showed up in person and you were HYPE going in because you knew the name. If you came from a Buddist or Atheist background you would have been so ignorant that you can't "properly enjoy" the show without doing the homework first. See what I'm saying?

However, if i am not aware of the lore i still think it’s fine, the show gonna explain and I’ll learn. I wouldn’t look up the religious lore intentionally while also doing a blind reaction personally.

That said she TOTALLY mentioned the angel maybe being Emi's mom MULTIPLE times already in SEASON 2, so even if you didn't hear her today, she's been brewing the theory at least a couple episodes ago haha.

That's really too bad, lots of anime pull from real life religious beliefs held by real people like this one. That's why like you observed Black Clover showed the same tree. I think seeing the deeper connections between what the author's story and the real life beliefs is part of what makes anime unique really unique compared to a lot of western shows IMO. Another example. At the end of the episode, they drop Emi's mom's name is Lailah. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lailah_(angel) If you're familiar with the real life lore, just from hearing the name alone you guys would be able to start going crazy with the theories, but instead you guys had zero reaction to the name itself.

2022-08-07 04:54:39 +0000 UTCIf I remember correctly, the story of Emi was her dad was human, and her mom was an angel, eventually the church learned of that and trained her to be a hero, and while she was training with the church, Lucifer's army killed her dad. I'm also partly remembering that's why during Lucifer's reappearance in this world and fought Satan, Emi's conversations with Lucifer were related to that. I guess somewhere along the way she forgave him though.
