Are You Gonna Be My Girl With Reed

Where do I begin?

I suppose I begin with; If you are a photographer, do not flake on Reed. I will be there to swoop up and shoot the look she planned for you.

One Tuesday morning, Reed and I woke up, packed out bags and headed towards the Hollywood area. She had set up a shoot with a photographer that day and planned a couple looks for him to shoot. With the car packed, coffees in hand and a full tank of gas. We shipped off towards this photographers apartment where we were going to meet him. With a scheduled shoot time of 1P.M., we arrived about ten minutes before; as always. Reed texted this photographer and let I'm know that we had arrived early, as well as what car we were sitting in. Ten, twenty, thirty minutes go by. No answer, no response. Nothing. She then texted him once more and said "Okay, well we will be leaving in five minutes if we do not hear from you." Five minutes passed and we left. About ten minutes after, she finally got a text from this photographer with multiple excuses like "Oh, I wasn't paying attention to my phone" or "I thought this was my Uber" so on and so fort. We politely said fuck you, went to Pink Taco, had ourselves an amazing lunch with some early afternoon margaritas and shipped off back home.

We decided to go to our 'spot' that is right around the corner from our house, but we also decided to wait until sunset to shoot the look. We knew that this colors around dusk would make the look pop even more; and oh, it did. With a short drive around the corner, a little bit of off roading and up a small hill, we reached out destination. Reed was already in outfit, so I put together my gear and we got to shooting. The light was amazing! I placed the sun behind her so we did not get any harsh hits on her skin or face. All of the color translated so well into the images. The pinks, oranges and purples of the sky mixed with the warm tons of the ground blended perfectly with Reed's skin and the neutral tons of her outfit. It was simply perfect.

Reed and I can work through a set pretty quickly, which is a good thing when shooting at dusk. When you are in need of every bit of sunlight, it seems that the sun is racing to hide behind the horizon just in pure spite of what you are trying to accomplish. From the beginning of the set to the end of the set; I managed to go from a 64ISO all the way up to a 640ISO. With most of the spike during a period of about five minutes towards the end of the set. Thankfully, I took my time and used my eye to make sure that with each ISO bump, I adjusted my shutter speed and aperture to mimic the same exact lighting situations at the previous image. A pain in the ass, but worth it.

When Reed and I shot this set, just like we do many others; we do not really have any inkling of how it will come out. When we finished up this set, drove home, dumped the photos and began sorting over a beverage and hookah; we realized what a great job we had done with this look. She even said to me "I am so glad that we shot this, it came out ten times better the it would if anyone else did." I do not mean to toot my own horn, but I completely agree.

That night I quickly edited a couple images, one NSFW and one SFW; one for her Patreon and one for her Instagram. The next day she posted the SFW image to her instagram with a caption alone the lines of "When a photographer flakes and @alpalshmal saves the day and the look."

Anyways, I am elated with how each individual image came out in this set and absolutely enthralled with how the entire set looks as a story. I hope you enjoy this one, because we sure do.

P.S. We have limited edition prints from this set listed in Reed's Etsy; I will provide the link below so you can purchase one if you would like!
