So, during the last afternoon and then the entire night my GPUs were rendering frames for the turntable animation sequence featuring this prototype of CMM (Customized Material Mannequin) option that is now available to use when creating a new mannequin using a PLA (software update required).
As this is an animation sequence I had to create a custom texture set to be used as bump and displacement maps for the separation joint lines because making those by hand in post work for 300 images would not be the way. There are some odd technical issues with the sequence I noticed few hours into the render and I decided to not abort and re render as I was not even sure that the problem I noticed has a solution, so I just decided to let it slide. It is not a big issue and perhaps even not many viewers will notice the problem anyway (well, one of the issues at least).
The mannequin depicted here is also wearing a very nasty "torture device" in form of the string panties that are equipped with three, strategically placed golden "balls" attached to the string. Two of the balls are jingle bells. The middle one however contains a small vibrator that randomly activates for short periods of time. Which may prove to be a very intense experience, especially for pink PLA recipients such us our dark beauty here.
The movie clip contains no sound and it is "loop friendly", so if you are using a player that can play the video in an endless loop then it should enable you to keep her seamlessly spinning and spinning...
Anyway... Download the movie, watch it and enjoy... And as always, feel free to leave a comment as well - I would like to hear your thoughts especially regarding the camera - do you think a static camera would be better for a clip like this, or you like this sickness inducing zoom out and zoom in effect that allows for showing a full body image and a more detailed close-up as well? Another idea was to make one full spin zoomed in and then zoom out for another full spin. However, that would translate to something like full 24 hours of constant rendering in this resolution and quality and I personally think it would be a waste of time and energy.
While this clip was already rendering I also came up with the idea (too late) that when the camera is zoomed out and shows the full body mannequin, I could have used the empty space in the bottom left part of the image to fill it with a struggling subject being pinned down to the floor by an Omega drone (or a nurse) and being injected with a TF formula... However, as I said, this idea came when the render was already half way finished... So... who knows... Maybe next time... Besides with my lack of skills of actually animating human motion it would look awful anyway... So... Maybe it is for the better that it is not there... :)
