October 2024 - Patreon/Channel Update

Hey everyone, I hope y’all are doing well. 

I’ve been putting off writing this post for a while because it's been kind of difficult for me to actually sit down and write this out. 

It’s like, I’m really good at communicating stuff when it’s good news; like, last year when my wife and I got married, or when we had our baby - I was pretty quick to let everyone know about it. But when it comes to this news… it was just more difficult to come out and make a post about it. I had brought it up in the comments section in a couple of videos, but outside of that I’ve just been mostly silent about it. I guess I tend not to like to share bad news with everyone if I can avoid it. 

But, at the end of the day, I owe you all an explanation for my absence these past couple of months - and the fact of the matter is, I recently lost my grandmother to cancer. 

And, I won’t lie - it’s been rough, y’all. I mean, I’ve been fortunate enough to not have had to deal with a lot of death in my life - like, I’m thirty and this was only the second funeral I’ve ever been to; and the first was almost two decades ago at this point. So, I guess while I am fortunate in that regard, it also made this death very… difficult.

And it didn’t help that I was extremely sick myself in the month prior to her passing - fever, headaches, nausea, vomiting - I was a mess. Honestly, looking back on it, I wonder if it wasn’t just my own anxiety manifesting itself in a physical way. Who knows. 

Also, in addition to that - I was dealing with some YouTube stuff behind the scenes. For example, some of you may have noticed that Episode 01 of Death Note is no longer available on the YouTube Channel. Well, that’s because it was, unfortunately, copyright claimed about a month ago. Now, I tried to appeal it - wrote out a whole letter pleading my case - but, no dice. 

And, not gonna lie - with everything else going on at the time - that really just kinda… sucked; especially seeing as it had just hit 100K views and was approaching its three year anniversary on the channel. Not to mention the anxiety around the fact that I couldn’t help but wonder if more videos would get hit. Like, it was just a lot to deal with - and it’s kind of forced me to rethink things regarding how I’ll be doing these videos going forward [but more on that in a minute]. 

Regardless - I just wanted to let you all know that that’s why I’ve been MIA these past few months.

Now, because of my perpetual need to balance out the bad with the good, I’ve gone ahead and decided to drop a new video today - and it’s a nice long one; second longest yet, actually. So, hopefully y’all will enjoy that. 

Also, I want to let y’all know that, while I haven’t been recording or editing so much these last few months - I have been writing (honestly, writing is just one of my favorite things to do, even outside of these videos) and I’m currently pretty ahead, script wise. Like, more so than I ever have been before.

I typically don’t start a new script until the previous video is completely done, but I found that writing these scripts was actually making me feel a bit better, so, here’s where I am with the next few scripts: 

Code Geass Episode 04 - 100% complete 

Death Note Episode 30 - 100% complete 

Code Geass Episode 05 - 100% complete 

Death Note Episode 31 - ~90% complete 

Code Geass Episode 06 - ~40% complete 

So, yeah - I’m - significantly - farther ahead right now compared to where I’m usually at with scripting. Meaning, for the first three, all I gotta do is record ‘em and get ‘em edited. I’m actually planning on recording CG.04 tonight and tomorrow. 

Also, in regard to the Copyright Situation - I wanna let y’all know that, going forward, the editing is going to be looking… a little different. And while part of me wants to tell you exactly what I have planned… I think it’ll be better to just show y’all when the time comes. But, honestly, I’m pretty excited about the change. 

And, fortunately, you’re not gonna have to wait too long to see it because, as I said, I’ll be recording over the next couple of days, and - having tested some of the editing out already for some practice stuff - I’m thinking the entire process is going to go significantly quicker. Right now I’m projecting that this will all be done by the 15th of October. 

So, yeah - I want to say thanks again to all of y’all, for rocking with me even during this unexpected hiatus - it really means so very, very much.

I’m really looking forward to giving you more content as we head into the last three months of the year!
