It depends. The living members of Near's team did have high enough stats. What if Mello's DN usage by happenstance was weeding out anybody who wasn't achieving good enough capability? After all, as we would find out, all 3 of Near's living subordinates actually are using their actual first names in their aliases. Worked for one L "Ryuzaki" Lawliet, didn't it?

2025-11-02 17:29:39 +0000 UTCI have to make a comment about Light's less than healthy regard about women. Because I call a case of "takes two to tango", or "takes three" as the case may be. And yes, this is yet another case where I should by all rights hate Light rather than pity him, but considering this is involving gender politics, I can point to 2 Twitter threads I made calling out the sides of a recent conflict involving a VTuber. I even talk about Light in one of them, to make some key points that Light not even giving healthy regard to individuality, for all that it DOES mark his execution in his mission statement as a sorry farce, isn't going to change why the work is reflecting on how we have a frustrating reality with or without a Lucifer analogue being put into the mix. I sure as hell know that even having a Shirley Fenette in my life at all would be complete luck, when if I even had that much, she'd be hellbent on being upright in a world that refuses to be that, and while I'd have to worry about HER life being robbed or some other Break The Cutie shenanigans because of said world being spiteful toward her optimism (and Code Geass indeed has that happen through Viletta, Mao, and Rolo), at least I'd even have somebody who would stick up for me against gaslighters and whatnot who would see fit to have me subjected to things like police brutality. I'm not even ignoring the idea that the likes of Deja Wukong could be a problem with toxic masculinity because I'm readily calling out the bad sense of empathy in general in gaming communities; if anything, people ignoring me making those call-outs too makes things more frustrating. Light IS chauvinistic at the point where he thinks he could if needed use physical force on an ex-FBI agent simply because she's a woman, but I find it to be no more than what we'd expect from a character meant to be an Anti-Role Model in general, and I have honestly seen worse. I'm more inclined against discounting the behaviors of the less obvious problem characters in this mess, who are made so by Light being the most DANGEROUS of the morons here. I've lived dealing with Takada's brand of snobbishness, and though it's possible the brutal capital punishment advocating and the support of a popular university student well before things like his promises of sharing power that she's quick to accept are exaggeration, trust me when I say I wouldn't find that to be unexpected. Misa isn't much better, granted that she's a reminder of the mentality involved in fancomic Totally Flaked episode 232, but she's still an apathetic enough gold digger at the end of the day. Not that Light isn't bringing Misa and Takada's childish fighting over him upon himself in his lack of remorse about the manipulation, but with the disappointment that I have experienced with non-fictional women, I'm far from wanting to ignore Misa or Takada's own actions. Of course, when 33 is up on YouTube, I'll still definitely want to say more there about the Savvy Guy Energetic Girl point, particularly to tear at Light thinking (however relatively) more of Takada than of Misa. Jesus Christ, is Light's morality such a broken mess for the longest time.
