The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [59]

Arrows tipped with shimmering Mora detonated on contact with Stormterror’s massive body. Yet the dragon’s protective barrier rendered the attack useless, allowing it to charge forward unhindered. Its gaping maw bristled with sharp teeth as it prepared to unleash another volatile blast of Anemo breath.

Stormterror’s claws gripped the platform’s edge with terrifying strength. The dragon lunged, snapping at Jia Changjiang and the others, forcing everyone to scatter.

Everyone, except Jia Changjiang.

He leapt high into the air, landing squarely on Dvalin’s head. With swift precision, he pulled out two pouches—one filled with Flaming Flower stamens, the other with powdered Electro Crystals—and emptied them in tandem.

When fire meets electricity in this world, it triggers a reaction.

Jia Changjiang had a simpler term for it—an explosion!

“A little greeting for you, Dvalin!” Jia Changjiang grinned. “Feel our enthusiasm!”

Before Dvalin could react, Jia Changjiang sprang off its head and landed back on the platform. The dragon whipped its head in an effort to shake him off, but it was too late.

The powder scattered by the wind ignited into a ferocious Overloaded reaction, sending a fiery explosion across Dvalin’s head. The sheer force slammed the dragon’s skull into the platform, though its barrier remained intact.

“Just how much stuff does Mr. Jax have on him?” Jean wondered aloud, astonished by the sudden display.

“He’s been busy,” Diluc replied dryly. “My sources say he’s spent every Mora he’s earned on materials since he arrived in Mondstadt.”

Without missing a beat, Diluc seized the opportunity presented by Dvalin’s stunned state. His flaming claymore carved into the side of the dragon’s neck, chipping away a significant portion of its barrier.

By the time Dvalin regained its senses, its barrier was nearly broken. The dragon thrashed, struggling to rise, only to find its claws tightly bound by thick iron chains.

It turned its head in bewilderment, spotting Jia Changjiang tying a final knot on the chains.

Noticing the dragon’s furious glare, Jia Changjiang turned and flashed a bright smile. Grabbing his battle axe, he called to the others.

“Dvalin’s grounded! It can’t fly—everyone, hit it with everything you’ve got!”

With a mighty roar, Jia Changjiang charged forward, his axe carving into the dragon’s face.

Dvalin roared in anger and desperation. It struggled to break free, but the chains held firm. Left and right, attacks rained down—Lumine’s swirling wind swords slashed into its side while Diluc’s flaming blade seared its hide.

Every time Dvalin turned its head to retaliate, it was met with a devastating blow from the opposite side.

Meanwhile, Jia Changjiang had climbed onto the dragon’s back.

Though the others pressed their attacks, Jia Changjiang had a different goal: to investigate what he had seen earlier.

Carefully navigating the dragon’s trembling form, he gripped its feathers tightly and steadied himself. His eyes locked on the two wounds on Dvalin’s back.

The poisonous blood clots still lingered there, grotesque and pulsating with dark energy.

But something was different.

They’re smaller now.

Jia Changjiang squinted, confirming his suspicion. The clots, once massive, had shrunk noticeably.

These clots, alive with an eerie vitality, were riddled with tiny blood vessels that intertwined with Dvalin’s body. Like roots, they spread the poison through the dragon’s system, amplifying its torment.

“Jax!” Venti’s voice carried over the chaos. “Do you see the clots on Dvalin’s neck? Destroy them!”

From Venti’s vantage point, he couldn’t see what Jia Changjiang was doing—only the dragon’s frantic struggles.

“Damn it… are these clots fused with its body?”

Jia Changjiang gritted his teeth, anger flashing in his eyes. “The Abyss Order’s handiwork?”

A notification from his system caught his attention.

[Blood of Durin: Twisted gold infused with the power to destroy mountains and corrupt the land. Status: Catalyzing.]

The final word froze Jia Changjiang. His gaze narrowed as he extended a hand toward the clot.

"Fine. If it's part of the problem, I’ll rip it out myself!"

Releasing one hand from the feathers, Jia Changjiang lunged at the poison clot.

Dvalin shrieked in agony as the wound was touched, its pain manifesting in a heart-wrenching roar.

“Just a little longer, Dvalin,” Venti murmured from below, his tone heavy with guilt. “It’ll be over soon.”

The dragon thrashed violently, trying to dislodge Jia Changjiang, but he held fast. With one hand gripping a clot, he suddenly froze, paralyzed by a wave of information.

In that moment, his Weapon Master ability revealed the clot’s origins and the emotions buried within it.

It wasn’t pain, rage, or despair.

It was… joy?

Within the clot’s memory, a voice emerged. Childlike and innocent, it carried a profound sense of wonder.

“Thank you, Mother!”

“For these wings to soar, this strong body…”

“I want to fly to places filled with beautiful songs, Mother. I want to tell them about you, about everyone, and about the beauty of our home!”

The purity and excitement in the voice left Jia Changjiang stunned.

Through these fragmented memories, he recognized the voice’s owner:

Durin, the Poison Dragon.

In his daze, Dvalin’s wild movements finally succeeded in throwing Jia Changjiang off. He plummeted toward the platform, clutching the poisonous blood clot in his hand.

Lumine caught him just before he hit the ground.

“Jia Changjiang? What happened?”

For a moment, Jia Changjiang didn’t respond. His mind was flooded with fragments of Durin’s memories—a dragon whose aspirations were full of love and wonder.

“Unborn life, unrealized wishes, lost dreams adrift in the dark cosmos… borrow my form and manifest in this world. And my dear children, go forth to the beautiful places, proudly displaying your splendor, as the rain flows to streams and the grass reaches for the sun.”

“Durin’s memories…” Jia Changjiang whispered, his eyes clouded.

He looked up, focusing on Dvalin, who was already beginning to snap the iron chains.

“No. There’s no time to think about this now.”

The fight wasn’t over yet. And the truth about Durin and Dvalin would have to wait.
