The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [214]

“Speaking of the Millelith, do any of you know the origins of this storied corps?”

At the Third-Round Knockout, Tian Tiezui had been recounting tales for some time, his throat parched. Yet, despite his exhaustion, he felt a fire burning in his chest, compelling him to continue.

More and more people crowded into the tavern—civilians seeking refuge from the storm, soldiers retreating from the harbor, and Millelith who had guided the townsfolk to safety.

Zhongli remained seated at the table where he had been drinking with Jia Changjiang earlier. Across the room, Beidou sat with her crew, downing drinks while keeping an ear on Tian Tiezui’s story.

As the audience swelled, Tian Tiezui gripped his folding fan tighter, his palms slick with sweat. It wasn’t the crowd that unsettled him—he was long accustomed to drawing large audiences. This was different.

He had seen the man who drank eighteen bowls of wine stride out of the tavern earlier, his laughter echoing like a bell. Tian Tiezui knew exactly where Jia Changjiang had gone.

Outside, Liyue’s Seven Stars, the Adepti, the Millelith—and that man himself—were fighting against the god to protect the city.

As a storyteller, Tian Tiezui felt insignificant in comparison, a mere speck in Liyue’s 3,700-year history. Yet Jia Changjiang’s parting words rang in his mind: "At least do what you can."

And so, Tian Tiezui made his decision.

Taking up his gavel, he struck the table sharply, silencing the room. With a flourish of his fan, he began to speak again, his voice resonant and clear.

“The Millelith, from the earliest days, followed the name of the Geo Archon, upholding his decrees. They adhered to four sacred tenets: to vanquish demons, to safeguard Liyue, to serve as its shield.

“The very first Millelith were formed by the Archon’s followers, their origins dating back to the founding of the port city itself.”

The audience leaned forward, captivated.

“During the chaotic wars of old, the Millelith fought with unyielding courage. In those days, they wielded greatswords forged from divine stone, striking fear into their foes with every swing!”

“They stood as shields for Liyue, wielding the might of divine spears crafted from the remnants of the Guyun Stone Forest.

The sharpness of a Millelith spear could pierce stone with ease.

And when a thousand soldiers stood in formation, none could halt their advance.

Tian Tiezui snapped his fan open with a loud snap.

“The Geo Archon, the Adepti, the Seven Stars, the Millelith—together, they forged Liyue into an unshakable bastion, as unyielding as the stone beneath its foundation.”

At that moment, a thunderous voice erupted across the skies.

I am the Star God of Taisui!

With the strength of the Millelith, with their bodies and resolve, I shall stabilize this land and its waters.

This is my pact. Do you accept?

The voice boomed across all of Liyue, ringing not only in the air but also within the hearts of its people.

Following the proclamation came the sound of unrelenting strikes.

Rhythmic and fierce, like the war drums of an army preparing for battle, the Millelith pounded their spears in unison.

Through the tavern’s rain-streaked windows, some onlookers noticed the skies had shifted. The storm clouds above Liyue, still dark and brooding, were now streaked with gold. It was as if lightning and thunder themselves were answering a call to arms.

We regret nothing! Forward without fear!

The Millelith’s deafening roar split the heavens, their combined will forming a wall of sound that pushed back against the oppressive might of the god. Even the clouds seemed to part, marking the battlefield with a line of defiance between mortals and the divine.

The rock shall hold firm, unyielding as mountains. The shield shall stand strong, dispelling all evils!

In the harbor, those who had cowered in fear just moments ago began to lift their heads.

The roaring chorus of the Millelith struck a chord deep within their hearts, scattering their terror like leaves in the wind.

A single voice might be small, but thousands of voices united could shake the heavens.

And so, hope spread across Liyue like wildfire.

Back on the Jade Chamber, golden patterns, similar to those etched onto Jia Changjiang’s body, began to appear on the Millelith.

Over a thousand soldiers stood as one, a feral beast ready to bare its fangs at the god before them.

When a thousand stand in formation… none can halt their advance.

Jia Changjiang turned toward the Seven Stars and the Adepti.

“The Millelith have made their choice,” he said to Ningguang and Keqing.

Ningguang stepped forward, a knowing smile on her face. “Then the Jade Chamber will advance as planned.”

Keqing gripped her sword tightly. “To protect Liyue is the Seven Stars’ solemn duty.”

Jia Changjiang smiled at their resolve before turning to the Adepti.

“To the Adepti,” he said, extending his hand, “I ask for your strength as well. What we have now is not enough—I need your combined power.”

“You’ve stirred up this grand display,” Cloud Retainer said, her tone wry, “and yet you still require the Adepti’s aid?”

Jia Changjiang chuckled. “Naturally. After all, Liyue belongs to the Adepti as much as it does to its people.”

“How bold of you,” Moon Carver remarked. “Do you truly intend to face the god with this mortal army?”

“If we lacked courage, we wouldn’t be standing here now,” Jia Changjiang replied without hesitation.

“I see now… you’re not one to remain idle during a time of great change,” Mountain Shaper mused.

Jia Changjiang smiled at the memory. “You sound just like a certain drunken bard I once met.”

“Haha, such vigor from the young,” Granny Ping said warmly.

Jia Changjiang clenched his fists. “While I’m still young, why not be bold?”

“Are you certain you’ll be alright?” Ganyu asked, concern evident in her voice.

“It’d be a shame to collapse before sealing the pact,” Jia Changjiang said, his confidence unwavering.

“Using the power of six Adepti at once has no precedent,” Xiao warned. “You could die from the strain.”

Jia Changjiang’s hand remained steady.

“I’m prepared for that.”

His voice was resolute.

“Without such resolve, what right do I have to aim for the heights above?”

In the pouring rain, Jia Changjiang’s smile shone brightly.

“I’ve been ready for this since the moment I decided to stop running and face the challenge head-on.”
