The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [234]

He had witnessed Archons and adepti unleashing their might during the battles against gods. He had seen the strength of Liyue’s people, the resolve of the Qixing, and the discipline of the Millelith. Yet, these powers often relied on forces beyond mere mortals.
Now, he found himself drawn to something different: the martial arts of the Guhua Clan that Xingqiu had studied, and the exorcism techniques passed down in Chongyun’s family. What sort of strength lay within these inherited traditions?
Standing on the practice ground, Jia Changjiang sized up Xingqiu and Chongyun, both gripping their weapons with focused determination.
This sparring match wasn’t about raw strength or unleashing overwhelming power. It was about techniques, control, and skill—qualities that made this challenge distinctly different from his previous battles. His body relaxed, a calm readiness settling over him as he regarded the three in front of him.
With his left hand gripping a longsword and his right holding a heavy blade, Jia Changjiang smirked and beckoned to them with a casual gesture.
“Don’t hold back,” he said, his tone light yet confident. “Come at me with everything you’ve got. Even though I don’t have a Vision, I’m confident in my ability to hold my own.”
He glanced at Lumine, then added teasingly, “Besides… Lumine’s never beaten me in one of these sparring matches—not even once.”
“#@!%!”
A vein seemed to pop on Lumine’s forehead as she glared at him. “Don’t get cocky! Just because you can take me on alone doesn’t mean you’ll win against all three of us!”
“Xingqiu’s got a Hydro Vision, and Chongyun’s Cryo Vision! Today, we’ll at least land a solid hit on you—just you wait!” she declared, drawing her sword with a determined gleam in her eyes. “Today, you’re going to learn the meaning of teamwork!”
“I’m looking forward to it,” Jia Changjiang replied, his tone still maddeningly calm. He let his arms fall naturally at his sides, the tips of his swords lightly brushing the ground, giving the impression he wasn’t exerting the slightest effort. “If you think you can do it, then show me.”
“Very well—excuse me!”
Xingqiu darted forward without hesitation, the sound of his movement barely disturbing the air as he charged.
Though he rarely boasted, there was a quiet pride to Xingqiu’s demeanor. The challenge Jia Changjiang posed stirred his competitive spirit, spurring him to show the strength of his training.
Xingqiu’s swordsmanship was swift and precise. His blade, imbued with Hydro energy, flowed seamlessly as he aimed for the openings in Jia Changjiang’s stance.
His strikes were like brushstrokes on a painting, with Jia Changjiang’s vulnerabilities as the canvas.
A dragon’s scales are easy to slash; rain is difficult to capture.
At this speed, it seemed nearly impossible for anyone to evade. Yet, just before Xingqiu’s blade could make contact, it stopped half an inch from Jia Changjiang’s side.
In that moment, Jia Changjiang’s footwork shifted subtly, his body retreating half a step, effortlessly dodging the follow-up strike.
Xingqiu froze in mild disbelief, his surprise mirrored in his opponent’s intent gaze.
So this is the swordsmanship he learned… Jia Changjiang thought, observing every movement.
Xingqiu’s style was ethereal, like raindrops suspended in midair—both elusive and deadly. The synergy between his elemental Vision and his technique elevated his swordplay to something extraordinary.
As Xingqiu continued his assault, Chongyun made his move.
The exorcist slammed his claymore into the ground, releasing a burst of Cryo energy that spread across the training ground. Frost seeped into the earth, forming jagged ice blades in the air that circled within his domain.
Within the icy field, Xingqiu’s movements became even sharper, his blade dancing with greater urgency. The chilled air gave his strikes a keenness that seemed almost impossible to avoid.
And yet, Jia Changjiang avoided them all.
Despite the flurry of attacks closing in on him, his footwork and evasions remained fluid and precise.
Xingqiu, realizing his strikes weren’t landing, pulled back to regroup, retreating to Chongyun and Lumine’s side.
As he distanced himself, he noticed Jia Changjiang lower one of his swords—a movement so measured it was almost imperceptible. The blade touched the ground without a sound, yet something about it sent a chill down Xingqiu’s spine.
“That’s… dangerous,” he muttered, watching Jia Changjiang’s relaxed posture with growing wariness.
“What’s wrong? Keep going,” Jia Changjiang encouraged, his ever-present smile never wavering. He returned to the spot he’d stood in at the start. “Your techniques are impressive, Xingqiu. The path you’ve taken is a good one… but it’s not for me.”
He raised his swords again, their weight seeming inconsequential in his hands as he swung them lightly. “I don’t have a Vision, so I can only rely on my weapons and my body to fight.”
He paused, his expression contemplative. “If I had to describe what fits me best, I’d say… it’s the mindset of a weakling grasping a weapon for the first time. Learning to wield it as a new ‘limb.’”
His gaze sharpened as he smiled. “Martial arts and techniques exist to make the weak strong. And if you lack a path, you carve one for yourself.”
He once again motioned for them to come at him. “So, shall we continue?”
“Lumine, your companion is really something else…” Xingqiu said, still staring at Jia Changjiang with a mix of respect and disbelief.
“Tell me about it,” Lumine grumbled. “It’s like he’s some kind of monster… I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone beat him in a sparring match. Back in Mondstadt, even Kaeya used to get dragged to the training grounds for hours.”
“His movements… it’s like he can read ours before we even act,” Chongyun muttered, tightening his grip on his claymore.
Jia Changjiang stood calmly, waiting for one of them to make the next move.
Eventually, it was Lumine who broke the tension.
“Ugh, we’ll be here all night at this rate! Stop hesitating—let’s go!” she shouted, charging straight at Jia Changjiang.
“Jax, take this!”
Having sparred with him numerous times, Lumine knew better than to hold back. She attacked with everything she had—
And was promptly disarmed. Jia Changjiang discarded one of his swords, caught her wrist mid-swing, and effortlessly threw her over his shoulder.
“Argh!” she yelped, scrambling to her feet as quickly as she could.
“Let’s go together!” she yelled to the others. “There’s no way he can handle all three of us at once!”
