The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [421]

"Even you think he feels familiar... Then he really must be a god," Jia Changjiang nodded. "Were there really that many gods in Liyue back then?"

"...During the Archon War, the Adepti and I did indeed seal away many gods."

As Zhongli spoke, something suddenly came to mind. "Wanmin Restaurant’s Xiangling... The Guoba by her side—he was once a god."

“?” Jia Changjiang froze.

Guoba is a god?

That Guoba from Dawn Winery...? Oh wait, not that Guoba.

The one that tags along with Xiangling, chewing on chili peppers?

That one is a god?

Jia Changjiang vaguely remembered that Diluc’s nickname—aside from Master Lu—was also Lu Guoba?

He used to think it was a joke...

But now it turns out Diluc was punching above his weight?!

Even in shock, Jia Changjiang didn’t forget the matter at hand.

"But what would a god's purpose be in showing up like this?" Jia Changjiang rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Is he here for revenge? But he seems pretty rational... and he clearly knows a lot about ores."

He turned to Zhongli. "I don’t know much about Liyue’s history, so I can’t guess. Zhongli, do you have any theories about who Kun Jun really is?"

“Hmm...”

Zhongli hadn’t intended to dwell on it.

But Jia Changjiang’s question made him pause to think seriously.

A god?

No... None of the gods Zhongli remembered behaved like this.

If he’s not a god...

Could he be...?

Zhongli fell into deep thought.

Meanwhile, not far away, Lumine was busy surveying the area.

“Detective Lumine Holmes is ready to take the case!”

“Sidekick Peanut, what’s your take on the situation?”

Out of nowhere, Lumine pulled out a Fontaine-style detective hat and plopped it on her head, holding a long pipe in her hand—

A Liyue-style pipe.

The same kind used by the Tianquan, Ningguang. Lumine had gotten it as a gift during a visit to her.

“Lumine Holmes?! And why am I Sidekick Peanut?!” Paimon exclaimed.

“Also, why are you wearing a Fontaine hat and holding a Liyue pipe?! It’s such a weird combo!”

“Hmph! A proper detective outfit requires both a hat and a pipe. Doesn’t matter what region it’s from—I’m not actually smoking anyway.”

Waving the long, elegant pipe, Lumine turned to Paimon. “Alright, Sidekick Peanut! Let’s crack this case! You’re my best assistant, Peanut!”

“Quit calling me Sidekick Peanut!” Paimon groaned at Lumine’s antics, already feeling tired.

Here we go again... Lumine’s mind was once more off in a world of its own.

Was Mr. Jiax really the only person who could keep up with the Traveler's logic?

After asking around the mine and speaking to Old Dai, Lumine had a solid grasp of the situation.

Apparently, while Old Dai and some others had gone out to transport ore, a few workers had stayed behind. But when they returned, all five of the ones left behind had vanished—except for the one guy who snuck off to slack. He was still there.

“A supernatural disappearance? Now this... is a serious case…”

Lumine mulled it over, when she noticed Kun Jun standing in the distance, seemingly lost in thought.

“Kun Jun!” Lumine called out from behind him, startling him enough to jump.

“Oh—Miss Lumine,” Kun Jun let out a breath. “Is something the matter?”

“Looking for something?” Lumine tilted her head. “Feels like you're not just searching for clues about the missing workers.”

She gave him a good once-over.

Lumine was certain she didn’t know Kun Jun. But his presence—his aura—felt strangely familiar.

Heavy... enduring... gentle... It reminded her a lot of Zhongli, though with some subtle differences.

But a similar presence wasn’t everything.

No... Lumine frowned. The aura I remember... was more temperamental. Proud. Even a bit angry?

“You’re very perceptive, Miss Lumine,” Kun Jun said with a helpless smile. “I am indeed looking for something... A stone called the Dragon-Quelling Stone.”

“Dragon-Quelling Stone...?”

Paimon floated beside them, eyes swirling. “What’s that? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it…”

“I... don’t really remember,” Kun Jun admitted after a pause. “But I have a strong feeling—if I see it, I’ll recognize it.”

“Dragon-Quelling Stone... hmm?” Lumine tapped her hat. “I think I’ve seen something about that before…”

“I see…” Paimon nodded. “Well then, Kun Jun, we won’t bother you. Let’s meet up with Mr. Zhongli and Mr. Jiax in a bit!”

“Alright,” Kun Jun replied before heading off to continue his search.

But Lumine remained deep in thought.

“Traveler, let’s go!” Paimon tugged at her sleeve.

Lumine suddenly clapped her hands. “I remember now! Lisa taught me during one of her alchemy classes!”

“Dragon-Quelling Stone was a rare specialty of Liyue centuries ago! Its production stopped ages ago—it’s been extinct for hundreds of years! But it’s a crystallized result of stabilized elemental reactions, which makes it extremely useful as a catalyst in potion-making!”

Lumine spoke with confidence. “I remember it clearly!”

“Eh?! When did you get so smart?!” Paimon was stunned.

Wasn’t Lumine usually zoned out and muttering nonsense whenever she took Lisa’s classes?

So the Traveler actually studied??

“Of course I studied!” Lumine pinched Paimon’s cheek in mock punishment. “But… if the Dragon-Quelling Stone went extinct centuries ago, why would someone like Kun Jun, who clearly knows a lot about ore, be looking for it?”

“Eh?” Paimon rubbed her cheek and tilted her head. “Maybe... maybe Little Kun really needs it?”

“Nope!”

Lumine gave Paimon a light bonk on the head with her pipe. “According to my flawless detective instincts... it’s not that simple.”

“You think... Little Kun is a bad guy?!” Paimon gasped.

“No,” Lumine frowned.

“Then, Traveler, what do we do?” Paimon asked.

“Simple!”

Lumine narrowed her eyes. “We ask him—directly!

“Mhm!” Paimon nodded confidently… then hesitated. “Wait, huh?”

But Lumine was already running back toward Kun Jun.

“Kun Jun!”

She caught up to him and called out, “I need to ask you something!”

“You’re... a spirit, right?” Lumine said, eyes sharp. “I remember now! I sensed your aura before—back at the Ancient Geovishap!”
