The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [341]
Added 2025-02-13 07:49:07 +0000 UTCAfter spending some time in Mondstadt, Jia Changjiang and Lumine returned to Liyue.
Word had it that the Lantern Rite Festival was approaching, and Lumine planned to use this opportunity to make a tidy profit during the festivities.
Recently, she also heard that helping people make Xiao Lanterns in Liyue was a rather lucrative side hustle.
Meanwhile, Lumine had caught wind of reports about an ancient Geovishap sighted near the Nantianmen region.
“So… what’s the plan for dealing with that ancient Geovishap?”
Her curiosity piqued, Lumine asked, “Even the hatchling Geovishaps are a handful. Every time we fight them, they just burrow underground…”
“And when we finally take them down, they don’t even drop anything worthwhile! Just a few scraps of bone shards at most…”
Lumine’s complaints were endless.
“I don’t even know what Geovishaps and ancient Geovishaps really are,” she continued. “But if there’s no decent loot again, this will all be a huge waste.”
“Don’t worry about that.”
Jia Changjiang held a document on ancient Geovishaps in his hands. “According to these records, their bodies contain a material called Juvenile Jade. It’s rare and highly valuable… It’s even said to be the source of their power.”
“So, there’ll be rewards—just depends on our luck.”
Jia Changjiang continued, “Besides, didn’t you also take up a commission to investigate the cause of the recent tremors in the Nantianmen area…?”
“No matter how you look at it, those tremors have to be connected to the Geovishaps, right?”
Lumine sighed. “It’s almost Lantern Rite, and we’re still stuck dealing with this…”
“Stop complaining. Let’s go check out Nantianmen first.”
Jia Changjiang urged her onward. “We’ve finally got leads on the ancient Geovishaps. Once we’re done investigating…”
“We’ll get to have a good fight!”
Excitement lit up Jia Changjiang’s eyes as he rubbed his hands together. “Hunting an ancient Geovishap… I’ve been itching for this.”
“Speaking of which… fighting something that big, using a one-handed sword might not be the best idea.”
As they made their way toward Nantianmen, Lumine grumbled, “When I fought Dvalin with a one-handed sword, it already felt off. With such a size difference, swinging a tiny sword around is like giving the enemy a pedicure…”
“Don’t put it like that. Sure, a one-handed sword might feel like pedicuring…” Jia Changjiang teased, “But if you wield two one-handed swords, at least you can speed up the process. You could even give the Geovishap a back massage while you’re at it.”
“Jia Green-skin!”
As they bantered, Lumine and Jia Changjiang arrived near Nantianmen—the same area they had visited with Ganyu before to look for Xiao.
However, they didn’t notice anything unusual at first.
“Huh?” Paimon suddenly pointed toward something odd. “Isn’t that a little girl under the tree?”
“A little girl? No way. This is the Jueyun Karst region. You wouldn’t normally find kids around here.”
Despite her doubts, Lumine looked in the direction Paimon indicated.
Sure enough, beneath a large, mysterious tree stood a young girl with blue hair.
“Huh? There really is… Could she be lost?”
Just as Lumine was about to approach the girl, Jia Changjiang suddenly felt the ground trembling beneath his feet.
“Lumine! Get back!”
With a sharp clap of his hands, Jia Changjiang summoned a massive spear. Lumine, reacting to his warning, grabbed the bewildered Paimon and rolled aside. In her hand, the [Summit Shaper] sword materialized.
The ground erupted in the next instant as a hatchling Geovishap burst forth, its jaws snapping shut where Lumine had just been standing.
Jia Changjiang lunged with his spear, piercing the creature’s body mid-charge. The Geovishap writhed in its death throes but was silenced when Lumine drove her sword into its throat.
Even so, the ground continued to tremble, with vibrations moving rapidly beneath them.
It was clear—they had been marked.
“Are they treating us like… prey?”
Jia Changjiang chuckled dryly, a mix of frustration and amusement.
He had come to investigate and hunt an ancient Geovishap, but now he was the one being hunted by its hatchlings? How absurd.
Tightening his grip on his weapon, Jia Changjiang raised it high and slammed it forcefully into the ground.
“Get out here already!!!”
Relying on the vibrations underfoot to locate their movements, he hammered the ground repeatedly.
The resulting shockwaves even made Lumine stagger, though Paimon, hovering in the air, was unaffected.
Earthquakes have no effect on flying types!
After the final strike, Jia Changjiang drove his spear deep into the ground. Moments later, a bloodied hatchling Geovishap was lifted out, impaled.
The other vibrations receded into the distance, the remaining creatures evidently deciding to flee.
“Pfft.”
Jia Changjiang spat at the corpse of the defeated Geovishap. “Trying to make me your prey…”
“Wait! What about the little girl?”
The thought suddenly struck Lumine. She turned to the large tree, relieved to find the girl still standing there unharmed.
Lumine rushed over to her, crouching down to speak gently. “Hey there, are you lost? Are you hurt?”
“You… came to witness their awakening, didn’t you?”
The girl’s voice was soft, ethereal. “You’re a bit early… but not too late.”
“Huh?” Lumine tilted her head, confused. “What are you talking about?”
“You don’t understand yet… But when the time comes, you will see.”
The girl’s cryptic words left Lumine more bewildered.
“Talking about awakenings and revivals… What nonsense!”
Lumine picked the girl up by the waist, her tone exasperated. “You’re obviously just lost! Whatever, let’s take you to the Liyue Ministry of Civil Affairs and sort this out later.”
“Let go!”
The girl squirmed in protest, but Lumine held on tightly, running off with her in tow.
Jia Changjiang watched the scene, at a loss for words.
Anyone who didn’t know better would’ve thought Lumine was kidnapping a child.
