Honkai: Star Rail – Banner Character, Delivering Knives to the Player [6]

《Lingzhou》
Combat Type: Wind
Path: Abundance
Faction: Astral Express

Character Bio:
A doctor with a hard-to-pin-down personality.
Wavers between reliability and unpredictability.
But at the very least, the Express crew trusts him completely.

“Uh, what’s that supposed to mean? ‘Wavers between reliability and unpredictability’?”

Katia scratched her head.

“No wonder he gives off that oddly magnetic vibe,” said Ah Xian. “Feels like he’s designed to be a chaotic troll-type, or maybe a schemer with a soft voice?”

“A black-bellied doctor, huh? That’s a fun contradiction. Aight, let big sis check out his real stats.”

Level: 80/80
Base HP: 1305
Base ATK: 4
Base DEF: 551
Speed: 100
Aggro: 100
Energy Max: 110

Most viewers were new to turn-based games, so these numbers didn’t mean much to them.

In fact, many didn’t understand what stats like Speed, Aggro, or Energy Max even did.

But there was one stat that got a universal reaction — and it was hard not to break composure when they saw it:

Base Attack: 4.

Ah Xian nearly spat her bubble tea.

“FOUR?! What is this, a combat rating under 5? Total trash tier??”

“Chill. He’s Abundance — obviously he doesn’t scale off ATK,” Katia said, amused. “He’s a healer, not a DPS.”

She chuckled.

“Actually, he’s pretty sturdy. High base HP and defense.”

“Speed’s average. Aggro’s normal. Energy’s a bit low, so his rotation should be simple.”

“Alright, let’s check out his skills.”

Basic ATK (Single Target) — Level 6

[Why Is Your Head So Pointy?]
Deals Wind DMG equal to 50% of Lingzhou’s Max HP to a single enemy.
Energy Gain: 20
Toughness Damage: 10

“See? He scales off HP. Nothing too fancy here. But that skill name though—what?”

Katia was clearly holding back a laugh, and both streams caught her snickering.

“Anyway, kind of whatever. No extra effects, no enhanced normal attack package. Let’s see the Skill.”

Skill (Bounce Type) — Level 10

[Approaching Storm]
Deals Wind DMG equal to 30% of Lingzhou’s Max HP to a single enemy,
then hits two additional random enemies, each dealing 10% of Max HP in Wind DMG.

Each hit heals all allies for 100 HP.
Energy Gain: 30
Toughness Damage: 10

“…Huh?”
“Huh?”

Ah Xian and Katia said it at the same time.

“Wait, this Skill actually deals damage? But the healing’s so low…”

“One main hit, two bounces — three hits total, so it only heals 300 HP in total. And that’s at max level?”

“For context,” Katia added, “Most standard DPS characters at max level have around 2800–3000 HP.”

“Even with bonus healing stats, you’re not breaking 500 healed total. That’s tiny.”

She shook her head.

“Not very practical. Healers don’t need to deal damage, especially ones scaling off HP — but this skill is just... weak.”

“If there’s any upside, it’s that the bounce hits apply multiple Toughness breaks. Ten per hit, so thirty total — same as Welt’s Skill.”

[If you want healing, you’ll have to… oops, got my skills mixed up.]
[His weapon gotta be a katana, right?]
[Can he open portals? Got any small loans?]
[Okay who let the terminally online fans in here.]

Ah Xian remembered Lingzhou’s support in the earlier cutscene and tried to reassure the chat.

“Hold on. His Ultimate has to be the real juice. In the story scene, he fully healed the whole team, remember?”

Everyone’s eyes followed her mouse as it hovered over his next ability.

Ultimate (AoE) — Level 10

[This Doctor Is Reliable]
Deals Wind DMG equal to 80% of Lingzhou’s Max HP to all enemies,
and heals all allies for 1234 HP.

Enemies hit by this attack enter [Dreambind] status (triggers once per target).

[Dreambind]:
When an enemy attempts to apply action delay or control debuffs to an ally,
the ally is immune to the effect and reflects it back — ignoring resistance.

Energy Gain: 5
Toughness Damage: 20

Ah Xian was stunned, but Katia audibly sucked in a breath.

Reflect debuffs?

“And ignores resistance?!

“HOLY CRAB. This ult is cracked.”

“Okay, lemme translate that for everyone who didn’t immediately get it.”

“In plain language: If an enemy tries to stun, freeze, or delay us — it fails and they get hit instead. Automatically. No resist checks.”

“Action delay includes things like slow and turn pushback. Control debuffs are stuns, freezes, imprisonment, that kind of stuff.”

“So yeah, Lingzhou not only heals the team — he curses the whole enemy field with a punishment debuff.”

“Honestly? That’s better than immunity.”

Katia laid it out clearly. Even so, many viewers still didn’t grasp how game-breaking this could be.

But that was fine.

It wouldn’t be long before a certain control-happy prison boss would get clapped so hard they'd start to understand.

Ah Xian spoke with genuine admiration.

“Yeah, after that explanation... this doctor’s definitely reliable.”

“That heal’s pretty decent too,” Katia added. “With Eidolons and bonus healing stats, you’re getting 1800+ at least.”

“That’s about right for a four-star healer. Looks like Lingzhou’s real value is in that insane crowd-control counter.”

“Guessing the rest of his kit — like Talent and Technique — probably won’t be anything flashy.”

She clicked into Lingzhou’s Talent anyway.

Talent (Bounce Type) — Level 10

[Strike While You're Sick]
When a target suffers action delay or control debuffs, Lingzhou immediately triggers a follow-up attack:

Deals Wind DMG equal to 10% of Max HP to the afflicted enemy.
Then, deals 4 additional hits to random enemies, each for 5% Max HP in Wind DMG.

When enemies suffer non-control debuffs, Lingzhou gains 1 stack of [Stare] per target.

At 5 stacks, he performs a bonus follow-up on a random enemy.
(Max stack: 10)

Enemies hit by his follow-ups have All-Type RES reduced by 10% for 2 turns.

Follow-ups triggered by this passive do not grant [Stare] stacks.

Energy Gain: 5
Toughness Damage: ~3.33 (single target)

“No way—he has resistance shred?!”

Katia nearly shouted.

“Pela and Yanqing’s Eidolon 4 only gives 12%, and it’s Ice-only!”

“Lingzhou’s just a four-star healer, and he reduces all-element resistance by 10%? That’s insane. Must-build.”

“I take back what I said earlier. This passive is amazing.”

10% resistance shred might not sound huge on paper, but in practice, it’s a significant damage boost — especially early on, when most characters don’t have access to many damage amplifiers.

For a game in its launch phase, where power creep hasn’t yet taken hold, this kind of debuff was priceless.
