The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [443]

“Mr. Jax… you seem to care quite a bit about the Lawrence clan,” Jean said, her gaze tinged with curiosity as she looked at Jia Changjiang.

“It’s not that I care about the Lawrence clan in particular,” Jia replied, frowning. “I just can’t stand seeing descendants disgracing the name of their ancestors.”

He shook his head. “Where I come from, we call people like that unfilial heirs.”

“If they really wanted to restore the prestige of House Lawrence,” he continued, “they’d never do it by betraying their country or tearing down other people’s convictions.”

“To repeat the very crimes the Lawrence clan once committed?”

He scoffed. “If these delusional bastards truly believed in reviving their house, the very least they could do is show the same pioneering spirit their ancestors had when they helped build Mondstadt!”

“Not this pathetic rabble—just dreamers, the lot of them!”

Though Jia’s words were harsh, he let out a long sigh at the end.

“False history can never defeat real history. The Lawrence clan today... they seem like a family shackled by the ignorance of their own past.”

He paused.

“Maybe Venti let them stay in Mondstadt because he hopes they’ll find their way back to freedom again.”

Then Jia turned back to Jean and said quietly, “I’m sorry, Jean. It’s not that I want them to overturn Mondstadt’s current order…”

“I just think it’s a tragedy—how the legacy of heroes and pioneers could be forgotten, and how their descendants could turn into what we see now.”

He sighed again. “Isn’t that, in a way... the fall of heroes?”

Jean listened in silence. Then she smiled and shook her head.

“Mr. Jax… it’s true that many members of the Lawrence clan still harbor resentment toward the Knights of Favonius…”

“But not all of them are like that.”

Her expression turned serious. “If what you’re describing is the spirit of the pioneers who once stood beside my ancestors in the icy wilds to help found Mondstadt—then there is no doubt that Eula Lawrence carries that spirit.”

“Eula Lawrence…” Jia echoed. “This isn’t the first time I’ve heard you mention her.”

He adjusted his posture, curiosity flickering in his eyes. “What kind of person is she? I’ve only met her once…”

“And if it’s you speaking, Jean, I trust your judgment will be fair.”

He straightened up, a look of genuine interest settling on his face.

“Eula is one of the most gifted members of House Lawrence,” Jean said. “Though she claims she joined the Knights for the sake of revenge, in truth, that’s just her way of framing her actions.”

She paused, then added, “Mr. Jax, do you know the creed of the Gunnhildr family?”

“I’ve heard a bit,” Jia said, rubbing his chin. The phrase sounded oddly formal to his ears, so he corrected himself, chuckling, “I mean, yeah—I’ve heard of it.”

“The Gunnhildr family’s founding creed is just a single line: ‘Let the wind guide us, and protect Mondstadt always.’

Jean’s voice was reverent. “It was the vow made by our ancestors when they broke through the storm wall alongside Barbatos, the Anemo Archon.”

“And the Lawrence clan was no different, in the beginning.”

Jean dug into her memories, explaining what she had learned as a child. “The Lawrence family’s emblem—the Crest of Frost—represents their original ideals before they fell: to remain pure and unshaken amidst fury and flame, resilient and composed through all trials.”

“Eula is one of the rare Lawrences in generations to pass the family’s tenfold trials. She’s also the current bearer of the House Lawrence crest.”

Jean’s expression grew solemn. “In my eyes, everything Eula does is a reflection of House Lawrence’s earliest convictions.”

“To the current Lawrence clan, Eula—by joining the Knights—is like a pioneer herself. She’s reclaiming their honor through her own strength and integrity.”

Jia raised his brows. Jean hadn’t held back her praise at all.

“That’s a high assessment. Is that really how you see her?”

“I’ve never heard you speak of anyone like that before,” he added. “Now I’m more curious than ever about this Eula…”

“If someone like you acknowledges her, then that so-called Spindrift Knight must have quite the spirit.”

Jia thought back to the tavern, to that one brief encounter with her.

Blue hair. A graceful, agile form.

He still remembered it vividly—even now—how she sat at the tavern, and beneath the table...

Those hands gripping a greatsword!

Yes—that long, elegant, crystalline weapon that shimmered like an instrument. The two-handed sword left a deep impression on him.

“I’m kind of itching to fight her now,” Jia muttered, stroking his chin. “She seems strong… unlike that uncle of hers.”

“Must be tough though, right?” he asked. “Being a former noble in the Knights of Favonius can’t make her daily life easy.”

Jean answered calmly, “The Knights value action and character over lineage or blood. Eula is an exceptional knight—there’s no need to dwell on her noble background.”

She paused, then added, “And Eula understands this well. That’s why she’s always been proving herself in her own way.”

“I truly believe that one day, she’ll fully redeem herself—and maybe, just maybe, lead the Lawrence clan back to its original ideals.”

“Hard, yes… but it’s something worth hoping for.”

Jia nodded. “If that happens, it would be a good thing indeed.”

“Alright then!” he declared, standing up and turning toward Jean. “I’ll take over the next part of this matter.”

“Schubert… that old noble.” Jean hesitated. “Mr. Jax, I don’t know if anything you say will really change him…”

“…Jean, you’re kind,” Jia said, shaking his head. “That’s what makes you the Dandelion Knight.”

“I’d like to believe a tongue-lashing might shake him awake.”

He glanced out the window, expression unreadable.

“But then again, the world rarely moves the way you want it to.”
