The Weapon Master Shall Never Die Bare-Handed in Genshin Impact [447]

Having made up their minds, Jia Changjiang and Lumine barely spared a glance at the Fatui soldiers rushing toward them.
The Fatui might be tricky to deal with, what with their elemental coordination, but to Jia Changjiang and Lumine, they weren’t much of a threat.
After dispatching a handful of Fatui agents, they hurried to the main entrance—just in time to see Eula and her Knights of Favonius squad had already surrounded the secret domain, and every Fatui member at the front had been captured.
Schubert, too, was being held in custody by two Knights.
He struggled fiercely, shaking them off. “Let go! I can walk by myself!”
Eula’s face was clouded as she watched him.
She hadn’t expected her own uncle to have dealings with the Fatui after all.
Schubert, for his part, kept silent, staring at Eula without a word.
“Caught you!” Lumine called, pointing directly at Schubert.
“So… that’s how it is.”
Schubert’s gaze flickered between Jia Changjiang and Lumine. “So you’re both with the Knights of Favonius!”
He turned to Eula, voice sharp: “Eula! You’re letting your Knights come after your own uncle? Is this the choice you make as a member of the Lawrence family?!”
“I’m not the one who brought this on. Besides, if Uncle hadn’t conspired with the Fatui, then no investigation would have found anything!”
Eula made no effort to soften her attitude.
In the past, no matter what, Schubert was still her uncle. Whatever he did, it never crossed the line—at least, it had always been something she could endure.
But this time was different.
As a citizen of Mondstadt, he had colluded with the Fatui—gone so far as to trade with them.
“I’m a Knight of Favonius. I have no reason to turn a blind eye to anything that endangers Mondstadt!” Eula declared.
Schubert was seething. “A Knight of Favonius? You’re a Lawrence! The last of the Lawrences! You ought to help restore the family’s former glory!”
“You really think joining the Knights will make them accept you?”
He shouted at Eula, voice hoarse: “Look at these Knights you brought—how many of them really want to acknowledge you?!”
“Do you think they’re here to help you?”
His rage spilled over: “Those Knights of Favonius would love nothing more than to see the Lawrence family fall!”
“You think becoming their captain will earn you their trust?”
Schubert pointed at her, hands trembling with fury. “You’re the most gifted Lawrence of your generation! And yet you joined the Knights? You bear the Lawrence blood, the Lawrence crest! You should be carrying on the Lawrence legacy!”
“Are you throwing a tantrum?”
Eula asked quietly. “If anyone should be angry, shouldn’t it be me?”
She looked at her uncle, voice catching slightly, though she kept herself under control.
“You knew full well you’re a Lawrence, and you still did things that put Mondstadt at risk.”
“Have you thought about how much trouble you’ve caused for others?”
“Did you ever consider how many people I’ll have to cross to put things right this time?”
She reprimanded him without hesitation.
Schubert snapped back, “You’re lecturing me?!”
“You have any idea how much the family expected from you?” His anger was such that even his mustache seemed to bristle.
“You’re the only one of your generation to pass the family’s trials! You were supposed to be our hope!”
“But you threw it all away—betrayed the family’s expectations, joined the Knights!”
“How did the Lawrence family end up with someone as—rebellious—as you?!”
“Uncle, if the Lawrence name is so important to you, then you should know this!”
Eula retorted, unwavering: “The Lawrence family once stood for pioneers and protectors of Mondstadt! But now, all it stands for is the old aristocracy and sinners!”
“Yes, I am lecturing you, Uncle!” Eula’s voice rose. “I never knew the so-called age of glory you long for, and I don’t share the family’s obsession with it!”
“But I can tell right from wrong, and I understand exactly what freedom means to the people of Mondstadt.”
“The Lawrence family won’t—and shouldn’t—become what you want it to be!”
Schubert fell silent.
After a long moment, Eula turned to the two Knights behind him. “Please, take him away.”
“The rest, leave to me and the Honorary Knight.”
“Yes, Captain.”
With that, Eula’s squad escorted Schubert out of the domain.
As he was led past Eula, Schubert spoke one last time, voice bitter: “Mondstadt will never accept the Lawrence family.”
“What a stubborn old man!”
Lumine watched Schubert’s retreating back and turned to comfort Eula: “Are you all right, Eula? Don’t listen to your uncle—he doesn’t understand the first thing about freedom!”
Eula gathered herself. “Of course I’m fine. But… you’re here, out in the open, so you must have decisive evidence now.”
“That’s right!” Lumine nodded. “I heard it myself—your uncle handed over Mondstadt’s city defense plans to the Fatui!”
“Then let’s go get them back.”
With that, Eula gave her orders.
Jia Changjiang frowned, watching Schubert’s distant figure.
Something still doesn’t add up…
“For now, let’s deal with the Fatui. We can handle the rest later.” He drew a weapon, ready to join the fight.
As he picked, a thought struck him—
Back when we dealt with Azhdaha, didn’t I earn another weapon draw?
But… honestly, I don’t really need a new weapon right now.
Fine—maybe I’ll save it for when Azhdaha wakes again. Maybe I’ll pull something even more fitting then…
With that, Jia Changjiang simply pulled out a bow.
He handled it with ease—this was the bow that once shot down the sun, after all—and a wave of excitement surged through him.
“All right! Time to deal with those Fatui!”
