The Buffet Incident Part 3

For whatever reason, I haven't really been big on the effects for this story? That will definitely change because of what's coming. This right here, though? This is the "before."

The pair established the booth they'd be sitting at and then walked back over towards the buffet bars. Food was piled high on each tray and it all looked and smelled extremely good. There was a staff member sitting on a chair by the plates. "Mind if I see your receipts?" the lady asked. Adie and Lynne showed her the receipt for two All You Can Eat meals. "Ah, All You Can Eat, fantastic," she remarked. She reached over to the stack of larger plates behind her and gave them each one. "Just come back and grab another when you're ready for more. Bring your receipt each time just to be safe, but I usually remember which one I've given you," she said.

Adie and Lynne thanked the woman and started perusing. There was no limit to what you could put on the plate, so they started stacking things high. The two had been rooming together for almost a year now and while Lynne knew that she could trust Adie for just about anything, she trusted her stomach's judgement above all else. She let Adie take the lead, matching whatever she stacked on her plate. Adie could eat, that's for sure, but seeing as how she was about 70lbs heavier than Adie, Lynne was confident that she would be able to keep pace. She always had before.

They got back to their booth, plates stacked high with a bed of garlic bread topped with two steaks that were topped with four burgers and two servings of mashed potatoes. Adie was drooling at all the food that sat on the plate in front of her, but Lynne had the mildest bit of concern. "You really think you're going to finish all of this?" she asked. "Doesn't matter," Adie replied, "I'm either going to finish it all, or have a really great time trying." Lynne struggled with the fact that this statement was probably more profound than anything she'd heard in her classes that year, but with that they dug in. Adie started shoveling the burgers into her face as fast as possible. Lynne tried to keep pace, but Adie was devouring it all as though she hadn't eaten in days. As Lynne dug deeper into her plate, she felt like it was easier to keep going. The food was delicious, and it made her not want to stop until it was all gone.
