i know it was prestream stuff, but they were cutting out the kvarn arc, so the kima line was necessary to communicate to fans that she didnt know them

2022-01-30 19:19:48 +0000 UTCDon't know if you realized that episode 1 and 2 were pre-stream, meaning kraghammer wouldn't have happened yet. That's why Kima didn't know them. They never did anything relating to this dragon except for the time they went back to his lair for some purpose. But all of this with Brimscythe posing as Krieg was pre-stream stuff. Kraghammer started Ep 1 of the stream.

2022-01-29 17:46:22 +0000 UTCyeah i remember when he went through all of that on a live stream, I also remember in a panel in 2017 with matt, tal, and i think marisha, a fan kind of rudely asked about it to bait them, but asked in the context of "how do i deal with a player whos an asshole and ruins all of our sessions?", and matt sort of went through what he did with orion over the course of the stream. going back and forth having little chats, setting boundaries, etc. and then eventually you just have to let them go. I follwed the whole situation pretty closely, but the only person who has ever really talked deeply about it was orion, and it seemed like he was also trying to reboot his professional connections to CR, which didn't work. And yeah since then I don't know what he's been up to other than trying to twitch stream every now and then. Its a really messed up situation adn really unfortunate. Although, at this point, 3 campaigns in, he's barely a footnote in the history of CR. Which again is unfortunate, but it is what it is.

He himself eventually uploaded a video about it (on Instagram which I don't use and deleted my account so I can't see if its still there), Long story short he was if I understand what he said, he had been suffering from substance abuse problems and mental illness for a long time and he was not relating well with his friends in the group that became critical role (Critical Role started from a bunch of voice actor friends being introduced to Pathfinder by the couple who played RPGs (Matt and Taliesin) and they decided to start streaming it). His substance abuse and mental illness were basically destroying not only his friendships but his ability to civilly relate to other people. He then was also diagnosed with cancer and eventually HIV and that sort of blew up his substance abuse and mental illness issues leading to him being pushed out of the gaming group by his friends. I think he stated in the video as well that is basically destroyed his friendships but that he was working on restoring it with at least some of them. That was back in 2017 in terms of when he did the Instagram post explaining the cause of the separation. Matt Mercer later responded via social media that he was happy that Orion was getting help and recovering from cancer but there were no plans to ever bring him back to Critical Role. I think it was after that, where Orion maybe kind of lost it/got upset and burned bridges with the CR team and then launched his own financial exploitation of his Tiberius character, which you mention in the video. I did not really follow much after that.
