2024-01-12 11:59:12 +0000 UTCI remember also being thrown by the casting, but it's a fun subversion imo, especially since "Romeo and Juliet culture festival highschool play starring our main characters" is pretty much its own anime romance trope by now. Although, obviously it was written in the 90s, I've only watched the reboot, maybe this is where the trope started haha.
