Maybe Aang couldn’t showcase the full extent of his speed because he wast outside and instead in a tight, enclosed space? Could be hard to control running as fast as the wind when there’s little room for error, especially when it’s this kind of a situation. And he had to be especially mindful because this is still Azula we’re talking about. He probably doesn’t want to charge her head on after everything. You want to catch her but you want to make sure do it on your terms, and aren’t about to just jump on a snake or something. Could have been a little scared as well. Personally I would also chalk it up to it being a cartoon. The tones they were going for in each particular scene were very different. This is a much more serious encounter, as opposed to Aang running around all frantically for a gag.

**Warning long text wall** I get what you mean with Aangs speed difference in this episode, but I'm sorry to say that I kinda feel like you are trying too much too find things to nitpick. Overall the power scaling was never something that Avatar tried to put much into focus. Korra on the other hand did go into that direction more if you ask me. However I feel like at the end of the day, Avatar was always way more about what the abilities and usage of those abilities mean to the characters themself and how to obtain them means personal growth. And its not necessarily about how cool they look or how exactly the physics of the bending works on a microscopic atomic level, if you know what I mean. One thing that always set Avatar apart from allot of anime from when it aired back in the day but also even now still to this day is that the show compared to allot of other action/adventure shows didn't focus overly on the battles and power scaling explanations ( like for example something like Naruto (no hard feelings against Naruto btw lol) ), but instead they fully committed to telling an interesting story. I also wanna add that I don't think many people who say that Avatar is "perfect", actually mean it like that. You gotta think of it in the sense that when people say that, it just means that its perfect to them personally and not perfect in a literal way. Cause obviously nothing is ever perfect. Anyways this was just my 2 cents though. You can take my opinion with a grain of salt though, cause I'm someone who genuinely loves this show eventhough I can admit that nothing is ever perfect and that also goes for this show ofc.

My biggest issue was Freaking Paku, give Katara a little water from oasis around 250-500 ml water instead of giving Katara 5 ml water bottle. Because if in book 2 ep 20 Katara just imagine decided to heal Zuko scar, and that means no more water for Aang. So it would be his fault, because freaking old guy was too greedy to give more North Pole oasis water for Katara

How come Aang could run faster than the wind when getting medicine for Sokka and Katara when they were sick, and while trying to ecsape from the archers, but he can’t even catch Azula, who isn’t even running that fast by normal human standards. Hate these inconsistensies in the power scaling, and even if the invasion forces had taken the palace, how would they have kept it afterwards with so few people, makes no sense. I know many ATLA fans think the show is near perfection, but I don’t, there’s still so much writing that doesn’t add up.

Since you guys already mentioned pretty much every single thing about this two parter that I also like, there isn't much I can add to your guys commentary, I do have one thing tho, which is that one of the things that I've always thought was so cool about Azula's toying with team Avatar during the invasion, which is how sassy she is here. I mean she always is too some extent but especially in this one, I've noticed more only recently. Like for her this isn't even really about the fate of the world but more like a game in which she can showcase how good she is at everything. Also yeah the emotions are so amplified here ( in the real finale ofc even more; but even in this one the stakes are already super high ), with all the characters and storylines intertwining with eachother. Idk why but the shot of Aang crying after not having been able to find the Firelord always gets me very emotionally for some reason. Thank you as always for the reaction you guys!
