Itβs the specific sword technique he used that set Ryuma on fire. Itβs apparently a fire sword technique (Canβt really get deeper about it without some character spoilers). Basic theory Iβve heard over the years is he slashes his opponent so hard and fast that the friction from the blade causes fire π€·πΎββοΈ it is a stronger slash than normal since heβs gripping one blade with technically both hands. But I think Ryuma also just went up in flames super quick because heβs basically just an old dried out mummy π€·πΎββοΈ

I love how after the events at Water 7 and Enies Lobby he has gained a lot of confidence even though he's still relatively weak and aware of that and a bit of scaredy-cat (but let's be honest, it's the other characters who are insanely strong). But now he recognises himself as a valuable part of the crew and knows where to put his worth to help everybody. If he didn't defeat Perona the StrawHats would definitely lose miserably due to her ridiculous power π€·π½ββοΈ I'm just leaving this comment cause Usopp deserves more love! β€οΈ W fight

My best guess is he used some kind of friction while doing a special One Sword Style technique (like Sanji's Diable Jambe, there was also a few other techniques of other characters that used friction as power to do fire and stuff). My other guess would be he used another power that's within him to do this technique.
