The Arsenal at the start of Ep 13 is full of references to Go Nagai's none Mecha work the Violent Jack Knife you even called out is a reference to that titular Violence Jack of the manga and Ova trilogy that is heavily tied to Devilman and Mazinger, you also see Kenji's pilot helmet from Kotetsushin Jeeg being thrown onto the pile, the weird "dog" you also noticed is actually a white cat with Nagai's avatar's face put on instead of the head. The avatar's name is Sensei just like the member of the Kurogane 5 but Nagai Sensei shows up in a lot of the anime that he is responsible for minus Getter Robo since that is mostly Ishikawa's creation. Also the Photon Lab is at Mount Fuji meaning Shiro just ran away with a girl from Japan to Germany. The Zanbato that Koji used is also named after a Violence Jack character Slum King. Yep Tsubasa was an easy shoe in to be Shiro and Koji's mom since their mom was never named in either the manga or anime and was never shown in the manga while their Dad is Kenzo Kabuto who is seen in Great Mazinger. Ankokuji was genuinely drunk and didn't notice that he was at the Women's bath meanwhile Boss was teasing Shiro in episode 13 but got angry at Shiro's back talk. So Mrs. Kabuto did die in an accident in both manga and anime off screen. Though with this it does raise some questions since Shiro and Koji have an age difference of 7 years so how did Koji not recognize Tsubasa. And since the secret is revealed remember when Shiro and Tsubasa first interacted I said Shiro instinctually knew that he shouldn' t get on Tsubasa's bad side, the one thing any child knows is to never anger their mom.
