Ahhhhh Declan. The guy who is so nice that you hate the fact you like him haha! Love this episode! While Psych’s character arcs take on a more natural pace (which really help you grow with the characters), I've always felt this episode showed a subtle and slight change in Shawn’s maturity - not necessarily a change in his immature behavior but more of a recognition of it by himself. Shawn has always been witty and immature in his responses to situations (in an effort to protect his own insecurities - that's for another discussion haha) but in this episode I having Declan as a "Shawn 2.0" - mature, slow to speak, and honest in nature - only further emphasized just how childish Shawn tends to be. So I feel like even Shawn was forced to look in the mirror a little in this episode. I've seen this show SO MANY times and every time I get to this (and next week's) episode, I notice the slight shifts in attitude or emotions portrayed in Shawn (we love you Roday). UGH I LOVE THIS SHOW. John, I always rush over when I get this notification! And once again, I'm beyond thrilled you are enjoying this series and really analyzing it/its characters. Psych has so much unexpected depth to it and you are the perfect person to react to it!! - Many reactors or even people I introduce to the show just see it as surface-level comedic crime-fighting, but I'm so grateful that you dive more into the character studies of the show like its meant to be. It's incredibly refreshing. 😊 You're the best, John!! Hope you are doing well! See you next Tuesday!! 🍍

Just to remind you, Steve Franks' father was a cop, Gus' name came from his father, "Burton Franks, Henry is based on his father's character, the way he always sit down Steve and "force" him to learn surten life skils, and Lassiter is more of a personal project of Franks in honor of his fater, not necessarily based on his father's career. And about Nestor Carbonell, he is a very good, very capable actor, and he proves it here by nailing this, at first glance, prick-ish character, like he is so good at everything, charming, handsome, a true...whatever the male version for "Marry Sue" is, BUT he actually plays it in a way that makes him sympathetic, despite what Shawn thinks of him. 🍍It was at the wedding where Curt Smith was singing, there was a white pineapple shaped lamp on the right side of the shots when Smith was singing, you see how I couldn't clue you cause it would've spoil the Smith cameo. Clue: metal balls. Trivia: The story of how Curt Smith agreed to appear on the show is actually funny! Smith said that he was invited by James Roday Rodriguez, after Roday snuck in backstage at a Tears of Fears concert in L.A. and met and talked with Smith and somehow got himself invited at Smith's house, where Roday (in 90° weather) came to wearing a ski jacket, which Smith found that funny and subsequently found the cast and the show to be his type of humor.

Love this series and my 3rd watch through with these reactions. Psych always had the feel that if they referenced someone enough...maybe they'll come and be a guest star.
