June Process/Behind the Scenes - Blight Image Set
Added 2023-06-08 20:40:52 +0000 UTCHere's a more detailed peek into various stages of my process for last month's image set! Some fullsize WIP images, some detail crops, and some screengrabs as a little window into my workflow, especially using the reference popup + split screen to get my bearings.
Followed a similar approach for the glowy Blight slobber as I did for the saliva/jizz in my March 2023 image set [Hancock from Fallout 4], so if you're an artist + interested in emulating that effect, be sure to check out the tutorial I posted back in April! For Blight, I just used a more saturated orange as a base color. I also put an "add" mask over top and hit the bubbly/pooled bits of the drool with a lighter orange airbrush to make it glow.

2023-06-08 21:36:23 +0000 UTCDefinitely don't mind you asking! I usually use porn videos or gifs (i.e. from Xvideos, Pornhub, or Reddit). I take screenshots for future refs, and when I have an idea I cobble together multiple images from my hoard to get the exact pose I want! I also take my own reference pictures. For example - in this set, I referenced two different porn images for her body, but her outstretched hand is from a photo I took of my own arm, and Blight's body is 100% invented. Also bears mentioning: Japanese Adult Video (JAV) porn tends to have very dynamic camera angles and the compositions are often more adventurous than western porn. Idk if you've read much hentai manga, but there's some overlap between the extreme foreshortened perspectives in manga/doujin and the types of shot compositions found in JAV. Your mileage may vary, but sifting through different genres of JAV has helped me make my art more dynamic and I love using it for refs. I also recommend studying anatomy so you can invent when references don't provide the elements you need. Michael Hampton's book "Figure Drawing: Design and Invention" is my favorite. He's taught classes to animators + video game artists to facilitate drawing from memory. Anywho--- Very wordy reply, lolol. 😅 Brevity was never my strong suit, but I do hope this helps!
