The guy who does the number with Idina and Kristen was the understudy for the original Fiyero !

2025-11-03 21:03:55 +0000 UTCI also love that you said this should win for production design and costume design. Hope it made you happy when they won for both :)

2025-04-08 17:23:29 +0000 UTCCurrently watching this film for the first time with your watch-a-long and I'm having a wonderful time. Makes me excited to see the see the sequel in theatres :)

2025-04-08 16:56:39 +0000 UTCAgreed! I think she has wanted to go back to acting for a while and she is so talented! It's hard to judge talent on a show like Victorious because they are so rigid and leave no room for improv which is where she thrives!

2025-03-18 09:48:59 +0000 UTCYES that's my fav fun fact for the story, she also sings the lower harmony in Defying Gravity

2025-03-18 09:46:37 +0000 UTCSome fun facts! most of the sets are practical, they even planted thousands of tulips for the outdoor shots! They also sang live on set, while doing stunts! In the end, when Cynthia is singing defying gravity, she is doing that live while being flung around on wires! I think everyone did a FANTASTIC job in the film, especially our two leading ladies! Rewatching the opening is so good because you can see Ariana's subtle acting choices to show how she really feels. Like her singing "She died alone" makes me SOB. She cares so much and can't show it. This adaptation makes me cry so much. Both the younger and the older versions of Nessa are the very first actual wheelchair users to play the parts, which I think is so cool! Baby Nessa is adorable, her "yeah" made my whole theater go aw every time! The crystal shoes are the ruby slippers, in the l Frank Baume series they were originally either crystal or silver, but they were made red to really pop in the Wizard of Oz movie (the invention of technicolor and all that) the ruby slippers and the Wizard of Oz rights are technically owned by Warner Bros, so they can make an adaptation like this but "ruby slippers" is something they can't infringe on. Luckily the rest of the characters are either named differently here or named just for this adaptation. And you can't copyright "The Wizard" lol. Some Cameos: the original Broadway actresses (Idina and Kristen), the woman who says "he must be a wizard" during that song is the person who wrote the stage play and co-wrote this movie, and the man who said "the wizard will see you now" wrote the songs! Also, I ship them so much. If it was a guy and a girl, people would see it for the blatant enemies-to-lovers trope that it is haha Glinda and Elphaba even kiss...several times in the wicked book! Also, an overall fact: the author said he wrote this to explicitly comment on the George W. Bush administration and his war on terror, the Wizard is George W.. I think it fits that so well but also it fits our current administration as well. This came out at a really poignant time!

2025-03-18 09:23:34 +0000 UTCThis was a fun one. Also not exactly a musical, but would love for you to check out Stardust (2007) for a fun fantasy film

2025-02-17 13:48:38 +0000 UTCHer singing is fantastic of course, but I was SO surprised by Ariana’s comedic timing, she’s hilarious in this 😭

2025-02-12 22:34:27 +0000 UTCIf this is a safe place to be a little dramatic lol Id like to say: The moment after of just sitting in silence is exactly why I like productions like this. It makes you want to stop and take it all in and that's a rear and beautiful feeling somewhere between joy and sadness. I'm glad I watched this film.

2025-02-10 04:51:42 +0000 UTCArianna said that everytime Glinda sings high, she’s lying. The only time she sings low is What Is This Feeling?

2025-02-09 16:24:42 +0000 UTCYou said they were the notes of Defying Gravity, when the original notes are from Over the Rainbow in the original movie. Edit: I’ve never heard you sing before Nat. You have a great voice

2025-02-09 16:17:13 +0000 UTCI absolutely agree that it is NOT a sequel. It is an alternative take. But I don't think one can fully or best understand the reinterpretation of the world that Wicked is making without knowing the "original" text. (Of course The Wizard of Oz is an interpretation of the L Frank Baum books, and the Wicked movie is another version of the Wicked stage musical which is a version of the Wicked book, which is a alternate history of The Wizard of Oz/L. Frank Baum books. But still I think a newcomer benefits most from seeing the Wizard of Oz. I see that as the most powerful presentation of the Wicked Witch of the West. And it's the arch evil version of the character that Wicked in all its forms seeks to subvert.) I don't think you have to prefer the Wicked narrative to benefit from knowing The Wizard of Oz in advance.

2025-02-09 04:30:49 +0000 UTCYou are safe to watch this movie with Nat for the first time. She makes sure not to spoil or foreshadow anything about the movie or the story as she knows people may be watching it for the first time. I hadn't seen it before and I really enjoyed watching along with Nat. She made a lot of inciteful comments after the scenes had played out which really added to my viewing.

2025-02-08 20:46:00 +0000 UTCIt was a really fun reaction to watch (I watch it together with Funnylilgal's reaction) and the film actually was a lot better then I thought it was (I knew nothing of Wicked before this). Also didnt know there would be a 2nd film, but now November of 2025 is gonna be a long wait haha. (Even though its not that long).

2025-02-08 19:01:18 +0000 UTCIf your instinct is to talk about mucus for 3 minutes at the beginning of a rewatch chances are you have brain fog. Its a self-fulfilling prophecy

2025-02-08 16:51:20 +0000 UTCNope. As a fan of the Cowardly Lion, it messed me up trying make this fit. Wicked is NOT a sequel to Wizard of Oz. It's a different take on the characters altogether.
Regi Todd
2025-02-08 11:51:17 +0000 UTCThe only thing you really need to see before Wicked is The Wizard of Oz. If you haven't seen it or haven't seen it recently it would be good to watch that first.

2025-02-08 06:21:59 +0000 UTCSincere question for Nat or whoever wants to answer. I haven't seen this (the movie or the stageplay). Should I watch it before watching the reaction video with it, or is it safe from a spoiler standpoint? (I only ask because sometimes reactors - not just Nat - can foreshadow too much when it's something they remember well.)

2025-02-08 03:26:36 +0000 UTCgive a count down for a pause girl lol - also the HAT lmao - as a cinema geek the pacing for me was on point. imo it would've hurt the film if they didnt have the risers / let the film breath, especially in the friendship dance scene. Timing & pacing felt right. A film that moves too quickly can hurt the film, but didnt feel like anything dragged on the first / second watch. 10/10 me and BOQ
