Hope you all had a great weekend! We're finally getting into Daredevil: Born Again and I'm so stoked to see what this show has to offer!
My initial plan was to post both episodes 1&2 today and devote a day to starting Severance this week, but I'm currently traveling and on a time crunch. So here is this week's schedule instead:

Feels great to be back on here. A lot of catching up. Great to see and hear Natalie's reactions again. It looks like I have to watch Daredevil season 3. I only saw episode one of season 3 and I didn't see a reason to continue watching since Netflix Daredevil, Netflix Punisher, and other Marvel Netflix shit wasn't canon to the MCU and the shows got cancelled. I didn't know if Marvel was going to reboot and recast or just bring back the actors from the Netflix show and semi-reboot. So I didn't know or don't remember a Marcy and didn't know anything about Bullseye getting a metal spine. Seems like Natalie never watched the Echo tv show which is great and I extremely recommend never watch it. They hired someone who is not a fan of Echo to make a Echo tv show. The creator of the show made up an entirely different Echo that isn't the same Echo from the comics nor Hawkeye tv show. Plus the show added a lot of falsely inaccurate Historic events. Embarrassing. I am caught up on on all episodes so far . You know Kirsten is looking to be a bridesmaid at Matt and Heather's wedding lol

I'm here for great performances but as for the writing/showrunning I am hatewatching now.

2025-03-27 03:15:21 +0000 UTCThey’ve never explained why Fisk is out in Hawkeye or echo but I just assume when half the universe died for 5 years after the snap that probably included some officials working on the case against him and witnesses and so the whole case fell apart. Basically Kingpin should be thanking Thanos every time he eats his bland ass omelette

Maybe all the good guards got blipped and the guards working for him let him out, maybe one of his loyalists became governor and pardoned him. He's been out for many years now. I wouldn’t say the whole point of the original show was him going to prison permanently, the original plan for that show was for fisk to be out by season 5 for another showdown with matt.

2025-03-25 03:36:56 +0000 UTCI'm gonna go on a bit of a recap spray here but it should give more context. There's a lot of subtext missing with the shows you haven't seen. First the bigger one. Not having seen the punisher you're missing a lot about how Karen is so over with the official channels, the government and the law. The way they all screwed frank + what happened in Daredevil season 3 she's now very angry at Matt for being done with Daredevil as she strongly feels like he's one of the only trust worthy source of justice. For Fisk backstory. In Hawkeye we learn that Fisk has an adopted niece or something like that ( Echo ) at the end of Hawkeye we learn that he ensured her dad died so Echo shoots him in the head. In Echo we learn more about Echo's backstory, learn that of course Fisk is still alive. Echo gains some weird ancestral powers that forces Fisk to go on a path of self discovery to realize how evil and twisted he is. ( Look I guess they mean it to be somewhat deeper but I just didn't buy it so I tell it as I perceived it, to me it felt that stupid ) So the weird reunions betwen Fisk and Vanessa is basically him finally coming back from his deep depression or whatever and trying to come back with this plan for the city and leaving Vanessa in charge. He feels very indecisive and not the usual Fisk. Hope that provides some backstory at least for the Fisk stuff I get why you're confused as hell but I definitely understand skipping those other shows.

He then was in Echo where he was healed by Maya and a bunch of other stuff that isn't important to this series so far and then he got the idea to run for mayor at the end of that show.

2025-03-25 00:46:52 +0000 UTCCanonically it’s been like 9 years since Daredevil season 3, so Fisk isn’t fresh out of prison, as seen in Hawkeye and Echo (I didn’t finish it). But this is Vanessa’s first reappearance since Daredevil 👀 The story goes that the original script for the show apparently had Foggy and Karen die before the show started and had Matt go through a depressive/vengeful arc with a new cast of characters. That idea was leaked and the show allegedly went through extensive rewrites to include the original trio due to the fan outrage, though it may have just been general rewrites. But it definitely feels like that may have been the case, you can kind of see where the two ideas are meshed together. Foggy dying early on, Karen not having a huge role, Matt having a bunch of new friends from his firm, etc I’m enjoying the show so far, and it’s great to see the characters again, but I think it would’ve benefited from being a binge like the original show used 😅 excited to see where it goes tho, feels like it’s definitely kicking up and I’d watch these characters regardless x

Ngl this season felt pretty disrespectful to the original series. I know it's different, but it lowkey feels like they're using the actors and characters to get the fans back, while not actually giving a single crap about the original setoes

Maybe corrupted officials survived and got him free. Boom, he shows up in Hawkeye, gets shot in the eye, and got a bionic eye in Echo. And now he's here.

It's apparent to anyone who pays attention that the old material and new scenes have differences in writing and tone. And they haven't been stitched together as well as they should have. Just because you haven't seen differing opinions doesn't mean they don't exist. And I never said the show is bad, I'm loving it so far.

They retooled the show because marvel was unhappy with it. Then they redid the episodes retaining some footage shot and shooting new material. Due to union rules the original writers and directors get credit, but the episodes were redone, not just simply cobbled together.

2025-03-24 16:39:05 +0000 UTCFoggy dying was originally to be offscreen and by some cop or something, and Karen wasn't going to be in this. After they got some backlash (and a certain actor was not happy with the direction of his role), they did extensive reshoots and added Foggy & Karen again. You'll see in the next few episodes. It definitely looks cobbled together in many places. But somehow this is worse? Foggy's death is very rushed. Bit disappointing actually.

I can see the parallels. I'm interested to see how it's all going to play out between these two. Quite a shocking opening for sure.
