He is thought to be a chimera ant who kept his strong human ideology and ignored the Queen's orders. There have been theories (if you are caught up with the manga) that he will be a big player when we get to the dark continent. Togashi wouldn't waste a character with this much backstory and now with the power of a chimera ant/human hybrid.

You shouldn't be banned from themes that exist in previous episodes since that's just nitpicking. Everything could be a spoiler when the boundaries are too loose.

Whether it's the Hunter exams, the way he acted in the Phantom Troupe arc or his friendship with Killua, Gon's hypocrisy is EVERYWHERE. The point is that he's extremely selfish and that was already mentioned by multiple characters. Just because you don't pay attention to details doesn't mean no one else can. I've already commented 30 episodes ago about the appraiser's comments on Gon as well as 20 episodes ago when Bisky talked about Gon's weaknesses.

My issue with Jacob's contrast point is that Gon's actually one of the biggest hypocrites in the show along with the Phantom Troupe. Hunter X Hunter's rather clear in its grey morality. Either way, it's a good thing that most of their theories are misses more than hits so far lol.
