My interpretation of the bet (though I could be wrong) is that since the coin landed on her forehead, in the moment when she pulls it off and looks at it, she’s not thinking about the fact that she’s looking at the side that landed “down,” her happiness at “winning” seemed genuine at the time as well (and not that she was trying to be deceitful)- and then at some point later when she’s had time to think about it, things have calmed down, they’re not being chased, etc, she realized that she didn’t win, but figured that they’re already helping her and didn’t question it, so she didn’t tell them the truth right away- but here at the end, she feels like she owes them the truth and feels comfortable enough telling them

Honestly the ending didn't feel sad. It felt like the right thing happened if that makes sense. Great song at the end too.
