Love your analysis guys. I personally was more focused on Nana's lines: "Maybe there is really something wrong with me. Am I still only half awake?" this was such a metaphor for Nana’s romantic feelings towards Hachi where this show directly mentioned it before multiple times to the point she even talked about it to Ren and Ren was chill with it (and vice and versa but the miscommunication between the two characters is through the roof so there's a second layer that themselves are not even aware of + the taboo that it'd be and how it'd be another identity crisis for both of them. Both of them mentioning it multiple times but saying "they're two girls" and heteronormalizing it is pretty telling).
