SM set the stage for international idols, the labels first success (Boa) was actually given Japanese lessons as part of her training. And it worked. She's a megastar in Japan. Nowadays it seems like they are more focused on drilling their idols in Chinese.

2021-05-31 04:40:51 +0000 UTCBc you commented on them speaking some Japanese. They both actually speak the language and as far as I know are fluent in it. Bc during the starting years BoA and them had to learn the language bc interpreters weren't as common and if you couldn't speak it, you weren't invited to a lot of Japanese shows or interviews, so over time they learned it.
