It goes by so fast, but Akane says when she sees Ai's eyes that maybe she gets them from her self confidence. That may also be the reason that no one questions Aqua and Ruby about their eye. Also Ai, Aqua, and Ruby all have white starts that seem to turn black, well not yet for Ruby thankfully, when they are angry or jaded, but Akane's stars are yellow. Just a lot of hmmmm moments to unravel. 🧐

2023-05-27 13:03:13 +0000 UTCAkane is and always will be best girl of this series, even though Kana gets some solid moments later on too. It's a real shame that the next episode was delayed though, because there are a couple of absolutely incredible scenes coming with her that 100% guarantee her position. Also, Akane's voice actress gave a flawless performance in this episode. Everything from the realistic way she spoke through tears to her insane imitation of Ai's voice, I was absolutely not prepared for that quality of a performance from her. I looked up her credits after this episode and she's almost exclusively done fairly minor side characters, with this being by far her largest role. Hopefully, she gets more work in the future because she's clearly very talented. Quick edit as I got further into the reaction, the star in the eyes isn't physically there. It's just a visual representation of the charisma/star power Ai carried. This is why both her kids only have one star, as they have the innate talent to be like her but are inexperienced and haven't quite gotten to that point. It's also why Aqua's eye darkens when he's threatening people/doing anything menacing and brightens when he's doing something that's involved with performance, where he "shines" like Ai. This makes Akane having the eyes all the more impressive because it means she perfectly captured the natural charisma Ai carried. She didn't merely mimic how she walked and talked, she mimicked the hidden aspect that made so many people say "Ai had eyes that drew you in". She copied Ai's entire presence.
