이번에는 조금 불편한 내용을 전해드리게 되어 송구스럽습니다.

다름이 아니라, 투표에 관한 이야기입니다. 특정 후보에게 표가 집중되는 현상에 대해 투표에 문제가 있는 것이 아니냐는 제보를 받았습니다.

그래서 저는 투표 로그 파일을 분석해 보았고, 그 결과 의심스러운 정황이 확인되었습니다.

비슷한 시기에 가입하여 특정 후보에게 투표한 계정들이 다수 존재했습니다. 추정컨대, 누군가 여러 계정으로 제 Patreon에 가입한 뒤 원하는 캐릭터에 투표한 것으로 보입니다.

이 문제에 대해 깊이 고민해 보았습니다. 사실, 시스템 상으로는 이것이 부정적인 행위라고 단정하기 어렵습니다. 한 계정당 한 표라는 전제 하에, 해킹이 아닌 정상적인 방법으로 돈을 지불하고 여러 계정을 가입시켰다면, 이를 허용할 수 있지 않을까 하는 생각도 들었습니다.

물론, 중요한 정치 투표라면 문제가 될 수 있겠지만, 이번 경우는 다음 달 스케줄을 정하는 설문조사와 같은 성격이라서요.

또한, 이 일이 저에게 금전적으로 도움이 되었고, 그만큼 제 그림을 좋아해 주신다는 의미로 받아들여 감사하기도 했습니다.

마음 한켠으로는 차라리 이 사실을 몰랐더라면 좋았을 텐데 하는 생각도 들었습니다.

하지만 이 사실을 알게 된 이상, 그냥 넘어갈 수는 없었습니다.

구독자 여러분과의 신뢰 관계가 무너지면 장기적으로 Patreon 활동을 지속하기 어려울 것이며,

저를 믿고 응원해 주시는 다른 구독자분들께도 예의가 아니라고 생각했습니다.

따라서 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 투표 시스템을 일부 수정하기로 결정했습니다.

기존 시스템에서는 가장 많은 득표를 받은 캐릭터 1, 2위와 보너스 캐릭터 2개를 뽑았는데,

이제는 가장 득표를 많이 한 캐릭터를 선정하는 대신, 룰렛을 돌려 나온 숫자에 해당하는 순위의 캐릭터를 뽑는 방식으로 변경할 예정입니다.

예를 들어, 투표가 끝난 후 룰렛을 돌려서 5와 10이 나오면 5번째와 10번째로 득표한 캐릭터를 선정하는 식입니다.

혹시 5번째로 득표한 캐릭터가 여러 개일 경우, 재투표를 진행하게 됩니다.

보너스 리워드를 뽑는 방식은 기존과 동일하게, 매달 꾸준히 참여하신 분들 중에서 한 번도 당첨되지 않으신 분들을 우선으로 뽑겠습니다.

하지만 이 시스템에는 두 가지 문제점이 있습니다.

첫째, 캐릭터 선정이 랜덤이 되다 보니 대중의 의견을 충분히 반영하기 어려울 수 있다는 점입니다.

둘째, 룰렛을 돌리는 과정이 완전히 투명하다고 보기 어려운 점입니다.

물론, 룰렛 돌리는 과정을 동영상으로 촬영하여 공개할 예정이지만, 후원자분들 입장에서 완벽히 투명하다고 느끼기 어려울 수도 있습니다.

이 부분에 대해서는 앞으로도 계속 고민해 보겠지만, 우선 이번 달은 이 방식을 적용할 예정이니 참고해 주시기 바랍니다.

마지막으로 부탁드리고 싶은 말씀은, 이번 일이 누구의 잘못인지 찾아내어 비난하지 말아 주셨으면 합니다.

저는 이 문제가 특정 개인의 잘못이라기보다는 시스템의 허점에서 비롯된 것이라고 생각합니다.

솔직히 저라도 좋아하는 작가의 그림을 얻기 위해 비슷한 행동을 했을지도 모릅니다.

그리고 이번 사건으로 인해 제가 금전적인 이득을 본 것도 사실이기에, 그분에게 오히려 감사한 마음도 있습니다.

오히려 이전에도 비슷한 일이 있었음에도 불구하고 이를 제대로 관리하지 못한 것은 전적으로 저의 책임입니다.

운영을 제대로 하지 못해 여러분께 심려를 끼쳐 드린 점, 깊이 사과드립니다.

지난번 비슷한 일이 발생했을 때 더 면밀히 관리했더라면 이런 일이 발생하지 않았을 텐데, 그렇게 하지 못해

I’m sorry to bring up a somewhat uncomfortable topic this time.

It’s regarding the voting process. I received reports that there might be an issue with the voting, as votes seemed to be heavily concentrated on a particular candidate.

So, I analyzed the voting log files and found some suspicious patterns.

There were several accounts that were created around the same time and voted for a specific candidate. It appears that someone may have signed up for my Patreon with multiple accounts to vote for the character they wanted.

I’ve thought deeply about this issue. To be honest, it’s difficult to definitively label this as unethical behavior under the current system. If we assume one vote per account, and no hacking is involved, then paying to sign up for multiple accounts could be seen as permissible.

Of course, if this were an important political vote, it would be a different matter, but in this case, it’s more like a survey to decide next month’s schedule.

Moreover, this situation has been financially beneficial to me, and it indicates that someone appreciates my artwork enough to go to such lengths, which I am grateful for.

Part of me wishes I hadn’t found out about this, but now that I know, I can’t just ignore it.

If the trust between my subscribers and me is broken, it would be difficult to continue Patreon in the long term.

And it wouldn’t be fair to the other subscribers who trust and support me.

Therefore, I’ve decided to make some changes to the voting system to address this issue.

The previous system selected the top 1-2 characters with the most votes, along with two bonus characters.

Now, instead of simply choosing the characters with the most votes, I’ll be using a roulette to randomly select from different ranked positions.

For example, after the voting ends, if the roulette lands on 5 and 10, then the 5th and 10th most voted characters will be chosen.

If there are multiple characters with the same number of votes in the 5th position, we will hold another vote.

The bonus reward selection process will remain the same, focusing on those who have consistently participated but have never been selected.

This new system has two potential issues:

First, since character selection will be random, it may be difficult to fully reflect the popular opinion.

Second, the process of spinning the roulette may not seem completely transparent.

I plan to record and share the roulette process on video, but I understand that it may not feel entirely transparent to all patrons.

I will continue to consider improvements, but for this month, we will proceed with this system, so please take note.

Finally, I ask that you do not seek out or blame anyone for this issue.

I believe that this is more of a system flaw rather than the fault of any individual.

Honestly, if I were in the same position and had the chance to obtain artwork from a favorite artist, I might have done something similar.

It’s also true that I’ve benefited financially from this, so I’m actually grateful to that person.

However, it’s ultimately my responsibility that this wasn’t properly managed, especially since similar issues have occurred before.

I deeply apologize for not handling the situation better and for causing concern.

If I had managed things more carefully when a similar situation happened previously, this issue might have been avoided. I’m truly sorry for failing to maintain the trust of those who support me.
