Went and saw the Konosuba film last night in theaters. The theater was pretty packed, and it was nice seeing it with a crowd to hear people audibly laugh while I sit there finding it amusing but unable to outwardly express it because I've long since died inside. But it also cemented my dislike of seeing films in a crowded theater for misc. other reasons. I don't think I need to list out why.

As for the film itself: it was good! Felt like a watching an extended episode. There was plenty of janky animation despite Deen not working on it! I've also come to realize that seeing a reversed attempted gang rape scene that's played for laughs does not humor me like it might've back in my early 20s. Most of the humor in the series has that hateful tone with how it treats its characters, so it wasn't that out of place. Just couldn't help myself thinking "If this was reversed there'd be plenty of people with issues over it." Personally it didn't take me out of the fun from watching the film.

There was plenty of cute moments with Megumin that I liked, and seeing her hometown literally full of chuuni's was great. Also plenty of Aqua goodness. Darkness took more of a backseat this go around, but she kinda sucks anyway so I didn't care. What little they did use her for was amusing the very least.

At the end of the day, it was enjoyable. If you liked the series, there's an encore theatrical showing in the US tomorrow. I'd recommend checking it out.
