(Fair warning: I'm treating all CT as postmodern when, really, it isn't. Please consult your doctor, or at least someone with a doctorate, before utilizing any statements made by this account.)

That's all aside from the factual errors that you note, of course. It's just that Molyneaux might try to defend against at least some of those criticisms by claiming that he was discussing the figurative relationships between and identities of the characters, and that it doesn't really matter what Amazons literally are.

Because it's a neat trick, rejecting the postmodernism that underlies critical theory and allows people to present readings of texts without making claims to (capital T) Truth, and then to turn around and apply the same methods in order to present *his* pet belief as the capital-T Truth.
Superficially, it looks like he's just giving all those pesky critical theorists a taste of their own medicine, but the underlying rejection of postmodernism transforms his "reading" into propaganda.

Are Molyneux's videos meant to parody critical theory? Or is he just trying to use his understanding of critical theory to advance his idiosyncratic social model?
(That is, he's applying "abusive mother theory" to texts instead of "Marxist theory" or "feminist theory" or "queer theory," etc.)
I guess, ultimately, I'm asking if his videos are targeting people who are *skeptical* of critical theory, or people who are *naive* about it? The use of "The Truth About" in his titles suggests that he's targeting people who are naive, and aren't aware that there are all sorts of lenses you can apply to derive meanings from texts.

Hated WW, so wasn't sure whether to root for King Kong (Molyneux) or Godzilla (DC's utterly depressing take on a formerly charming female superhero in a stars and stripes bikini). But I'm avenged since Shaun reached his patronage goal and now has to stream Bad Rats for 24 hours. Also love the spoiler for the next video. Depressing video fans represent!

Definitely do not watch WW for a good take on WWI.

I haven't seen WW yet, but definitely want to now. I wonder if Molyneux was upset about the WWI setting, given how much nationalism fueled that war, which might make it at ideological odds with him on yet another point. Idk, but good stuff here.

Umberco Eco often said Literature was also a means of evaluating one person's grasp of reality. Molyneux is not only a class in hysterics and delusion, he's also quite ridiculous. I'm looking forward his take on the upcoming Thor: will he say Hela means that death itself is pursuing the white men? I'm sure Shaun will have a blast :D.

If Stefan thinks Steve Trevor sacrificing his life subliminally communicates the disposability of men, I wonder what he thinks of Jesus Christ.
