Goals!

With a very generous pledge I've just hit the next goal unexpectedly soon! Wowza

Okay. So here's my plan for the two things I said I'd do if we hit this goal:

The 24hr stream will be happening in the run-up to Christmas & any donations will be given to an as-yet-undecided charity.

A video covering the material in my deleted Amazing Atheist video has now been added to my queue. I won't charge for this one, since it's a goal reward and all. I might put that one out for patrons only, also. Seems like the right thing to do

I'll think of some more goals & rewards fairly soon, also. If you have any ideas on that front, leave a comment or send me a message either here or on curiouscat.

Thanks as always, folks. Your generosity is overwhelming. I am overwhelmed. Love you all x

Re: reward schemes. To blatantly steal two ideas from HBomb here: some of your audience seems to be interested in doing their own videos and in your equipment (hur hur). So getting access to a video where you show / explain your editing and recording process and / or a guaranteed spot for questions from patreon backers in the next Q&A / channel update might be interesting for some of your backers. If you think this would ruin the format of the Q&A -video (since you wouldn't get to pick the most interesting questions and reader contributions), feel free to ignore this.

Seconded. Brexit related content in general gets two thumbs up from me.

I would love your take/video about : The Truth About Brexit | UK's EU Referendum( Stefan Molyneux ) Thanks for your work

That isn't really the issue. I'd like to keep the number of companies that have my credit card info on file to a minimum, and I can imagine lots of people would appreciate a 'pay subscription for a year' type thing that does not force them to leave their info with Patreon. Patreon seems to get questions about it fairly regularly (see their FAQ) - and so I suppose content creators like Shaun would actually get more support if this were to be introduced as an option.

nice

Love ya Shaun~

Definitely make the video public, the whole point is to get this stuff out there.

You can limit your donations to x amount of videos a month.

Plus, last comment for today (and maybe ever) - I'm really delighted to see that a lot of people want to support your work for the same reasons I do. Ulysses fans too! Round of applause. Pat yourselves on the back, everyone.

Second part: I will likely drop my pledge to a lower amount after the first video since I would prefer a system of one off donations. Please don't consider it a comment on your work, I've been binge watching what you have done so far and think you are doing a great job. If I could wish for anything, I'd love to see you do some shorter ones (especially on these really persistent lies like the great replacement) since the internet generation (and myself) have a short attention span.

Oh, and I'll echo the sentiment that the AA video is probably best when public

Well deserved, and I think that AA video made a great point about how he edited it together using stereotypes. More people need to see it

Agree with everyone above. My husband is a teacher, unfortunately he sees first hand that many of the kids - especially the boys of the gamer gate age cohort - get some pretty dodgy information from youtube videos and don't have the background to question the content appropriately.

This might come across as a joke, but I legitimately wouldn't mind a video about, or reading of Ulysees as a goal.

Agree'd with everyone else. I support you to produce political content to educate the masses, not to get special privilages or content.

Brock Barber

I would also prefer the AA video is public (after like a week or whatever if you need) because I want the public to see content that debunks bigotry and hateful nonsense online

Cowrara

Don't feel compelled to preach exclusively to the choir on my account. I'm a patron because I want to see people pushing back against hate, ignorance, and deception in public spaces.

Prof Frank

I would prefer it was public!

fohfuu

imo any serious political videos should be publicly viewable, they're being made as a public service to debunk alt-right personalities and talking points after all, no point locking it away to 500-odd patrons

Hazel

I second that.

That's awesome! Congrats. So happy to have been a part of it. Keep doing what you do :)

Congratulations Shaun, you more than deserve it.

Re-visiting Cinema Sins could a fun goal, see how they've been doing and if they've improved.
