Chapter 119 [Vault]

She had died. One moment she was watching a rather enjoyable recap of the Teen Wolf show (even though she had watched it a dozen times) and the next she was in some sort of void, floating in an infinite expanse of absolute nothingness, just like one of those fanfics she had read so much of. 

She wasn’t sick and wasn’t eating anything, so her supposed death was a shock to her, and equally as confusing, as she was a healthy 17 year old, so her dying all of a sudden was…strange. She didn’t have anyone she left behind though, as her parents had died when she was born, leaving her alone to grow in the foster system, with little in terms of friends or proper relationships. And considering she was lesbian, and she had the luck of being put into some hardcore foster families, she wasn’t exactly fond of other people. Thus, she found most of her solace in fictional works, like TVD, Teen Wolf, and Harry Potter.

Glancing around the open space with a frown, the teen noticed as the space began to slowly grow brighter and brighter, as a bright light began to illuminate the entire infinite void. The teen was forced to cover her eyes, as her vision was covered in white, before a powerful pulling sensation dragged her away, as she disappeared from the void, its usual empty darkness reappearing moments later.

[3rd POV] [Location: ?????]

Within a large forest in the outskirts of a small town, a large cave was hidden, trees, bushes, and other plants covering its entrance. It was also covered in all sorts of spiky bushes, keeping any humans out lest they wish to cut themselves. 

Inside of the large cave, a rather large creature lay. It was akin to a massive leopard, with spikes covering its skin, and small horns growing from its skull, a long spiky tail curving from its behind. This “Figure” was a rather recognizable one to anyone who had read or watched Harry Potter, for it was…a Nundu, the most powerful magical creature in the Harry Potter world, and one with a poisonous breath capable of wiping out towns. And was so strong it took at LEAST 100 wizards/witches to eliminate a single one. 

Slowly the large creature began to stir, a low rumble escaping its throat, as it began to sit up slowly. This creature, this Nundu…was in fact, the recent reincarnator. 

‘...Where…am…I?’ The creature struggled to think, as it began to adapt to the new instincts that ailed it. Slowly it rose onto its four legs, as its powerful eyes gazed around the room. 

‘I…I had died. But now I am…not human?’ It thought, as a low growl escaped its mouth, not pleased with this change. She didn’t want to be an animal, even if it felt weirdly comforting and powerful.  

It stopped when memories began to flood into its skull. Memories of its new abilities, of the one that it had been gifted with, and most importantly, of its name. For most of its memories of its past life was stripped from them. 

‘My name is…Kali?’ The Nundu, now known as Kali thought. It seemed she was named after Kali, the Hindu God of Time, Death, Doomsday, and Destruction, at least from what she had remembered from her past life. It also meant “Fierce” in Swahili. 

‘It is…suiting’ Kali thought, pleased with her name. The species she was born into was one that sowed destruction, death, and doomsday just as the God Kali was named after did, although that Kali wasn’t so…evil sounding. 

From what the limited memories had shown her, it seemed that she was a Nundu, an immensely powerful magical creature from Mythology and from Harry Potter, which was the main basis for her power. She also had a rather…interesting and powerful ability. 

The ability to gain the traits of beings she ate.

A powerful ability, and one that would allow her to strengthen herself, as her instincts desired. Her “Basic” Nundu instincts wanted one thing and that was “Domination” as was her right as the “Predator” or “Alpha amongst Alpha’s” or even “The King” any of them worked for her. 

Kali’s eyes scanned over the cave, as she began to slowly saunter out of the cave, exiting through the thick brush as she ignored it, instead her eyes adapted to the sunlight, as she caught the sound of prey.  

Slowly stalking forwards, her lines of massive teeth broke out as she stared at her first target. 

An American Black Bear. A large one at that, probably at the higher ends of what the species could grow to. 

‘Weak but…a good first hunt’ Kali thought as she leapt out from the bush, lifting her massive paw in one powerful strike, as the bear loud out a small roar, only for Kali to snarl and snap her massive jaw around its neck, ripping into it like it was a knife through warm butter. 

The Bear didn’t live for even a moment longer, as Kali happily devoured her first prey, her inner instincts taking over as she took her first trait from the Bear, in this case, it was the Bears incredible strength, which would give her another 900 pounds of strength or so. 

Ripping through the creature's flesh, she ignored the way her body grew ever so slightly, as muscles expanded and grew more powerful, before reverting to their normal size, but more robust.

Ripping and tearing through the bear, Kali savored the taste as she greedily ate it, and after only a few minutes, it was all bone as she leaned back, a low rumble escaping her lips. 

‘Delicious’ Kali thought with a happy purr, before her mouth snapped to the side upon noticing another little creature attempting to flee from her. This “Creature” was in fact, a Northern Pacific Rattlesnake, a highly poisonous snake.

Ripping the snake apart with her large teeth, she swallowed it with one gulp, ignoring the poison as it was effortlessly ignored. It was being consumed and assimilated into her own poisonous breath that was granted to her thanks to her physiology. 

‘The Bear was better’ Kali thought not liking the taste of the snake, even if it had strengthened her poisons seemingly, which she was pleased with. 

Kali, having consumed her first meal, decided to begin walking through the large forest, and had managed to find two more of the Rattlesnake, surprisingly enough. She had eaten them, not because she was hungry, but because their poison was nice to have. This had also given her a poisonous bite, one that now carried the same poison/disease that her breath had, but more potent due to it being through a singular mighty bite instead of a gas. 

She already had more prey in mind, like dear, bobcats, wolves, and literally anything else she could get her hands on. She was making her way through the forest, hoping to find some new prey to hunt, for she had no interest in returning to the human world, not yet. She doubted she could even return to a human form unless she killed and consumed one, so…that wouldn’t be happening for a little while. 

Finally after another few minutes of traveling around, she found her next proper meal, a grin forming on her feline face, as she had one final thought in her mind before she pounced. 

‘Time to hunt!’

Love interest for this fic is Allison Argent at least, with maybe one or two others in the future. I plan on making another eventually with Melissa McCall as the love interest, but that won’t be a while since I’ve only gotten 2 seasons in so far. 

Another vault fic might be coming tonight, not sure what though.
