Chapter 241 [Vault]

Title - Jean Grey: The Ultimate Mutant | Chapter 4 | Female

____________________________________________________

[3rd POV]

Walking up to the front door, Jean let out a sigh as she opened it slowly. And as she had expected, a bald man sat on the other end, sitting in a rather high tech wheelchair. Besides him was a short man with dark hair, a blue skinned taller man with hair all over, a somewhat tall dark skinned woman with white hair, and finally a teen around her age with red glasses on.

This was Charles Xavier, Professor X. Logan, Wolverine. Hank McCoy, Beast. Ororo Monroe, Storm. And finally Scott Summers, Cyclops.

“Hello, I am Professor Charles Xavier, and these are my…associates, Logan, Hank, Ororo, and Scott” Xavier said, introducing the group to her. The latter of them was gazing at her with a look that was making her very uncomfortable.

‘…No way this guy is already in love with me’ Jean thought, glancing at him with obvious discomfort, as she noticed the way he was looking over her form. And sure, she was sexy (and she knew that) but that didn’t make the way he was looking at her okay at all.

“Okay? And should I care who you are?” Jean asked, not really in the mood to deal with these people after they destroyed her watermelons. She was really looking forward to eating them and now they were ruined.

Charles flinched slightly at her tone, while Hank and Ororo frowned at the way she was speaking to him.

“Pardon, did we do something to offend you? You are speaking quite rudely” Hank asked, as Jean simply looked past them at the ship.

“You parked on top of my watermelons, and ruined all of them. I was going to make some ice cream or sorbet out of them and now you ruined it. So yeah, I’m a little annoyed with you. And baldy’s attempts at looking into my mind is not helping” Jean said bluntly.

Xavier’s eyes widened at her words, understanding that she had felt his attempt at intruding into her mind. Said mind was…incredible, he had never run into someone with such a powerful psyche. It was like trying to ram a car into a mountain, except the mountain was bigger than a planet, and the car was the size of an ant.

“What, didn’t think I’d notice? I might be young, but I know what I am, and I know how to use my powers. Why do you think I’m in the middle of nowhere in Washington?” Jean asked, leaning against the side of her door with a raised eyebrow.

“How did you find out?” Scott asked, wishing to know more about the beautiful red head.

“Well, hearing the thoughts of every person on the planet at the same time was an indicator that I was not a normal person. And the fact that I accidentally nearly ripped a skyscraper out of the ground was another one” Jean said bluntly.

This was actually true. As when she was in New York, she had been attempting to gain control over her telekinesis at one point, wishing to see if she could practice while in the city. Only instead of that, she nearly ripped a skyscraper out of the ground, and had to run away when the authorities came to figure out how the hell the building was literally cracking at the bottom.

She felt a little bad for it, so she ended up using a bit of her power and managed to fix it, but still.

She didn’t bother hiding the fact that she almost did this, because she knew that they would likely look into her background and find several other odd events that would link to her. Like the time she turned a fire hydrant into pure diamond, only to fix it the next day.

It was mainly this reason why she left New York, as she knew that SHIELD would become a problem if she stayed. While she did learn to wipe any sort of connection to her from the place, she didn’t want to test it. And SHIELD would be an annoying problem to deal with, especially since HYDRA was more than likely hidden within it like in the MCU.

Hearing her words, they looked at her with shock. Xavier knew that the woman in front of him was an Omega Level mutant, maybe even beyond that, but this…this was more than he expected. Even he couldn’t hear the thoughts of every mutant on the planet, it’d take Cerebro boosting him to do that.

And this woman could casually do it without training.

“That-…that is incredible” Xavier said genuinely, as the others looked at her in awe as well. Except for Logan, who just raised an eyebrow at the information.

“So, is there anything else, or are you done? I’d like to make my strawberry jam now” Jean said, glancing at the group, only to stop when she glanced off to the side, a frown forming on her face.

’You’ve gotta be shitting me’ Jean thought in annoyance as she knew who that was. As slowly another group began to enter the area behind them, the X-Men in front of her all looking back at them alarmed.

At the head of the group was a man with a helmet, beside him was a blue skinned woman, as well as a tall beastly looking man, and finally a large man who was quite…big boned as one would say.

This was Magneto, Mystique, Sabretooth, and Blob. An interesting combination of mutants to greet her, but Jean understood that they more than likely knew that the X-men was here and sent them to battle it out should they be needed.

“Ah, Charles, it would seem you’ve arrived first. Already trying to poach the girl?” Magneto asked, walking forward as fellow Brotherhood mutants followed after him.

“Erik, I am…surprised to see you here” Charles spoke. Erik’s real name was Max, but Charles called him by the name he usually went by in this day and age.

“Truly? I could not miss out on meeting the young woman that made every telepath on the planet scream in pain” Magneto responded. Jean glanced at the man, finding that he was decently powerful.

She could rip the helmet right from his head if she wanted to though, so beating him wouldn’t be a problem for her at all.

“Okay, I can see that you’re both about to start…something, so could you do it about…I don’t know, a few miles that way?” Jean asked, pointing towards the distance, far far distance.

She really didn’t want to have to deal with the Brotherhood and X-Men battling it out on her ranch. Sure she could fix up any damages with a few waves of her hand, but it would be really really annoying to deal with. That and it’d take a bit of control on her part.

Looking at Jean upon hearing those words, the two glanced at one another.

“Look, I can see that you’re here to recruit me or something, right? Well, I’ll stop this fight or…whatever this is before it starts. I’m not joining either of you, I’m not going with either of you, and I could care less what you can offer me. So now please leave my property, before I forcefully make you leave” Jean said, growing increasingly annoyed as she noticed that they were preparing to fight each other.

“But-“ “Again, I could care less what you want to say, I am not going with either of you. Now leave, or else I’ll be forced to make all of you leave, and trust me, I can do it” Jean cut off Scott, as she glared at them all.

All she really wanted was to make some strawberry jam, and maybe a strawberry milkshake. But no, she’s being bugged by two rival groups that want to recruit her, even though she genuinely couldn’t give a shit about either of them.

She’d rather join the Avengers than either of them.

With her words echoing through the opening, the two men looked at one another and then her.

“Well? And before you say anything, you’re not welcome back. And if you do try to come back, I will know” Jean said, as Charles out a sigh.

“As you wish Miss Grey. I’ll apologize for the damages to your crops, and I hope you have a good day” Charles said, as he motioned for his fellow X-Men to follow, wheeling off past Magneto towards the blackbird.

Magneto watched them go, before also turning to leave, but not before glancing at Jean and speaking.

“You will regret this, girl” Magneto said as they too left, causing Jean to roll her eyes and slam her door shut, one thought on her mind as she did so.

‘Yeah no…no I won’t. Now…let’s make some jam!’

That’s the end of the chapter!

As said before, Jean won’t be a part of the X-Men or Brotherhood as she really doesn’t like either of them. If there is any team she would join, it’d be the Avengers as they are the MCU counterpart, who is a lot better than their comic counterpart in terms of actually caring for one another.

Anyways, have a good day!
