Random stuffs for referencing from cour 1&2 so far: Violet and Jasmine (the redhead twins), Veronica and Rian are from each of the seven big sorcerer families. Philomela's family serves under Veronica's family, and Rian is a distant relative to Philomela. April and May (the blonde twins) are from another family yet they got quite close with Veronica. Rian, Violet and Jasmine all seek to leave their families. Rian is weak at sorcery and is rejected by the fairies. Violet and Jasmine have shown potential in magic and they're looking for a master to guide them. (Sorcerers "re-render" what's already happened in the world through different mediums, and mages create "miracles" through channeling with the world.) Chise is in doubt with her curses helping her to fight instinctly, and she finds her hastily assistance has aroused some intrusive feeling for some people. Philomela is struggling with herself. Lucy is looking into her family's massacre. Zoe is lacking confidence of his gorgon ability. And Elias is learning more about the human relationships. There are some characters remained mysterious. Before Zaccheroni assigned the task of picking the flowers, that suggested experience in killing for those who can see them, to Chise and Rian, Zaccheroni was taking Philomela with him. It seems that Philomela can also see the flowers, and she has killed someone before. Elias can blend into others' shadows, and his signature is the thorn, and he may lose control to his physical form after taking extreme injuries or emotional outburst. Alcyone can dissipate into dusts, and she seems to have pre-planted certain programmings in her at some point even though she has gained preliminary self-consciousness as an artificial fairy. (We get to see Elias to develop throughout the stories, and maybe we will see how Alcyone develop as well.) The werewolf mother is holding onto her husband's head that she chewed off his deceased body after they were defeated by the hounds while pursuing Chise and the Webster siblings. The College is sealed off physically and magically, such as cutting off the signals from the modern cell towers. The teachers are communicating through the landline radios without using magic, though the headmaster is communicating with the witches outside through a gecko postman.

Elias said Humans are so frail, so from his perspective he's not overprotective. Rian is indeed an asshole, but he's probably looking at it from his perspective of him going out of his way to want to escape his own families name and influence, and that fact he himself isn't a super talented sorcerer and had to work hard to get as good as it is, so Philomena to him "throwing away" her potential doesn't make sense to him. And he likely has not been abused by his own family so the idea and the degree of Philomena's suffering he probably can't comprehend. I'd say he cares more about Philomena then he seems but he doesn't know a constructive way to express so he's left with anger. Remember she described him as being very honest, so the idea of Philomena not being honest with either herself and others is probably an antithetical concept to him. We also still don't know what exactly Elias is, him being compared to Alycone could be a hint or just meant to show how similar they are in a more general empathetic sense.
