not that it changes things a lot, but Shigure is 6 years older than Akito i'm loving rewatching this with you and seeing how much you enjoy it! looking forward to the rest.

2025-05-24 04:44:11 +0000 UTCThe whole "hurt people hurt people" is only half the explanation imo. Cuz almost all the other characters have been through abuse, and didn't turn out like Akito. I've always believed the key was the enabling factor. The entire estate, and especially those damn servants seem to do nothing other than encourage and enable all her tantrums and delusions. No rules, no boundaries, no socialization, no solid grounding.. She basically has blank check to spiral out of control in every direction and take everyone down with her. Thats partially why Shigure told Kureno that abandoning her would've been good in the long run. Sometimes I think the worst character really is that old maid lady.. Even tho shes also a victim of an almost cult-like tradition mindset...

Doesn’t mean my sympathy for Akito isn’t much higher than the minimal level. “Hurt people hurt people” is a reasoning for when you analyze someone’s behavior; not an excuse to be used by the ones doing the hurting. I feel sympathy for Akito being an abuse victim herself; doesn’t mean I’m going to defend the shit she’s done this entire series (and it’s nice to finally not have to pretend that she is a he - you don’t know how hard it was to not accidentally spoil that)
