It's Pelvic Floor Chill Time 😌

Hey friends! Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite restorative postures to relax the pelvic floor and connect with your body. This pose is all about comfort, relaxation, and giving your body the space it needs to unwind.

Here’s how to do it:

Start by sitting with your back facing a bolster (or a stack of pillows). Slowly lower yourself down to rest your back on top of the bolster. Bring your feet together so the soles of your feet touch, allowing your knees to open out to the side.

If this posture is not comfortable for your back, feel free to try the same pose without the bolster. If you feel like your legs are straining and your inner thighs are too tight, use pillows for support underneath your knees.

If lying on the floor is challenging, try this on a firm bed or couch with the same setup—comfort is key!

Rest your hands on your belly to deepen your body awareness and take 15-20 deep breaths here. This posture should feel comfortable and calming, like a gentle hug for your pelvic floor.

Have you ever tried this pose before, or do you have a go-to stretch that you love? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear what works for you! ❤️

You're most welcome, Rex!

Hey Dr. G , I really need to start expanding these little bits of info. Been doing these stretches for over 20 years now sense my first heart attack as the first stretch before my treadmill walk. I've always had my arms out to the side holding for 30 sec/ hands on the belly and deep breaths really does give me more body awareness. Had no idea this was doing anything for my pelvic floor, just thought I was stretching. Thanks, Rex

How is Happy Baby useful for self pleasure? For me it's close to being torture.

works

Glad to hear they have helped you, Works!

My therapist suggested this along with Happy Child (wasn't happy the first few times) and Child Pose with diaphragmatic breathing to relax the perineal muscles. Feels like a balloon about to burst in the Happy Child pose. They have helped me quite a bit.

works

Also, yes a good one for pelvic floor relaxation.

It's a modification of the Fish pose basically.. the part of bringing your feet together so the soles of your feet touch, allowing your knees to open out to the side just adds additional comfort and spiciness, in my opinion. I might have to go do it now!

That makes total sense! Thank you for sharing.

That actually makes sense! I grew up around plenty of kids in my family. Changed my first diaper at 9yo! Then as a medic I delivered 7 babies and also worked in the Pediatric Clinic. Young babies do that pose all the time. Always when they are happy and giggling! 😄

Happy Baby Pose-- although I'm not sure why it was given that name in the first place. 🙃

I think it’s „happy baby“ pose and I like it so it’s part of my self pleasuring routine.

Just finished ished this stretch, thanks for the reminder! I also love child's pose...I think it's called?? Grab inside of your heals and lay on your back. Not sure if that's good for pelvic release or not...

Connecting the soles does something energetically. And opening up the legs like that somehow puts a focus on the genitals…. a very sensual position.
