Great tutorial video!! It makes a world of a difference watching the male model demonstrations!!! Seeing you explain areas on the plastic skeletal model and then watching you demonstrate on an actual person made me realize I was WAY OFF on the areas you had mentioned!!! haha!! Without the live model who knows where I would be focusing on!!! lol These videos are amazing so thank you very much :)

Hi Robert, I do see you purchased the video. I checked the video link and I'm unable to see any issues with the link. Can you share more about what you are seeing on your end?

susie@drsusieg.com

I purchased the video but it's not available.

Thanks. I will bring up Psoas area in question this week at PT. Very tight. Maybe go back to one Massage therapist that does work in that area. I do have a thuro-cane I can use to help work that area. Yes I’m glad I didn’t get that hernia surgery that wasn’t necessary.

Robert C.

You have had quite the journey with your body my friend! Also a testament to your resilience. 💪 Glad you didn't end up having the hernia surgery. I feel those are suggested too often as a cure for pain and does nothing or make it worse. Of course, in certain cases can definitely be needed but most do not fall into this category. Interested that pelvic floor pt doesn't work in psoas area?

Only time I had an issue was when not expecting it. Example Getting an ultrasound I had a tech/nurse just pull away sheet and I’m like woooaa! Just because before they always ask put your penis against your stomach and put your legs together with scrotum on top. Lay cloth over shaft and only expose your scrotum. The one who took away everything at the end after she did drap/ cover me she used the cloth that was covering my penis to wipe her hands exposing me and taking another look. At that point I totally did t care. That reminds me of maybe my second scrotal ultrasound…they asked if it was ok to have a student observe the ultrasound. Being relaxed from sedatives/pain meds. I started to get hard and remember the tech just doing her job but the student was looking back and forth and smiling. I got so hard I just closed my eyes . I think the student or tech tried to adjust cloth or maybe use a second one. I felt like that cloth wasn’t doing much. No exposing the penis per Say but totally you could tell because you still Could see the base or shaft at bottom not covered up so hard. Also this reminds me my PFPT the other week Asked if I wanted to help her save on doing laundry and had this tiny sheet rather than the large covering one. Asked if I felt comfortable enough otherwise I Could use full size. I’m Like no not a problem at all, I mean I will already be exposed anyways. No problem. I guess I enjoy being nude and watched or looked at. Isn’t that like an exibitionist.

Robert C.

Understood. Good point. Yes I do self massage to testicles. That relives a lot. I had a skiing accident back in 97’ to my Perineum. Then in 08’ I had a lymph node removed from my right groin area. Which wasn’t discovered until I thought I had a hernia from moving a transmission at Diesel school. Was scheduled for an operation… had a tragic accident happen to my Roomate. Fly home for the holiday to be with family and get checked out by my Doc. Who said yeah you do t have a hernia, and by the way you have Mono and a swollen lymph node (07’). Get it check out when you graduate. Get it removed and a year later I start having tightness and o that area etc. pain to groin etc. Another begging of my journey. Here we are in 2025. Yeah one of my sisters who was massage therapist said I have a very tight Soaz muscle. Only found a couple massages therapist besides my sister who actually will work in that area which out feeling uncomfortable. Neither of my PFPT have even worked that either. Wow such a long reply!

Wonderful suggestion, Guy!

Great question, Rex! Have you considered changing the position your body is in to reduce the amount of reach needed—for example, reclining, sitting, or lying on your side? Also, the movement of bending forward that refers pain to the testicle makes me think about the connection between the lower back and the pelvis—lower back nerves supply the testicle area and could be a contributing factor. Just a thought...

susie@drsusieg.com

Yes, because it can help ease tension and help you connect with greater body awareness of the pelvic floor muscles even if your intention was for strengthening purposes.

susie@drsusieg.com

Hey, Ron! Appreciate the warm welcome. You read my mind—as you can probably tell from the most recent poll that went out. It looks like many others are eager to get the full play-by-play as it is the top choice so far—it's coming your way!

susie@drsusieg.com

You're welcome, Robert. For clarification, the video was recorded as a demonstration which is why the genitals were moved out of the way—wanted to ensure that viewers saw the area being massaged. I definitely suggest exploring with touch that allow the genitals to naturally relax and maybe even be included in the massaged if that's where your exploration takes you. 😉

susie@drsusieg.com

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us, Byron. Yes, this is a general therapeutic technique as a spring board for folks to explore with and adjust to make it suit their own needs. I'm happy you found an aesthetician you can feel comfortable with and experience an alleviation of your pain as a result.

susie@drsusieg.com

I just had my first PFPT session and they don't do massage of any kind even though she is a doctor of physical therapy. There are very few PFPT in my area and most of them don't except male patients. Dont have a spouse and I sure wouldn't ask family. Thanks I appreciate the thought.

RJ S

I feel the video was too discreet to truly gleen the information I personally was looking for. We all have a penis or are comfortable with the existence of penises so not really being able to see the pelvis amidst the massage left more questions than answered. With my current hydrocele and the last hydrocele surgery I have alot of tension in my ingenial ligament area. I experience erectile dysfunction however when my scar tissue is massaged I achieve immediate erection so there must be some correlation. Nothing of the pubis mound was explored. In my journey of recovery I am left with either Pelvic therapist who aren't as male/penis friendly as Dr. Susie or seeking providers like my aesthetician who is comfortable touching gential area for wax services to provide a bikini scrub which as a byproduct alleviates the pain/tension. I hope to see more of the pubic area massaged as well.

Byron

Thanks for the video. I will try and use this instruction. My PFPT does do a light massage prior to internal manipulation. With a homemade massage oil (coconut oil and shae butter?). This exact massage isn’t done or at least I didn’t think so. My PT doesn’t have me hold anything up or out of the way, just let’s everything hang and be. I could see how doing this to your self once instructed could benefit as you’d be able to feel what’s applied.

Robert C.

A big second on that one, including comment on draping. I'm probably not the only man who appreciates the courtesy of being drapped. Although touch is much more violating than visual exposure, I did appreciate the therapist using genital draping to push the genitals aside.

Guy (works)

Do you have someone who could do the massage for you? I'm still a bit unclear on the ischiocavernosus, but once I have it figured out will ask my wife to do the massage.

Guy (works)

Dr. Susie... Hope you had a great retreat...and are recharged and all ZENed out... Just viewed your live post of muscle massage. It was very helpful. After two PF consultations with conflicting diagnosis...as I you are aware...I personally would like to see a video with of a live model of an initial PF assessment. Hopefully with an external and internal examination along with verbal "play by play" commentary as it is called in the sports world. It would be immensely helpful to know what one should expect in a thorough assessment... And would definitely allow one to know questions to ask and whether their exam is done using correct techniques. Thank you for letting me share my thoughts.

Ron Gaskins

Thank you Dr. Susie. Informative and I will be trying it shortly. Is the massage recommended regardless of whether you have tight or weak PF muscles????

Ron Gaskins

That was a great demo Dr. G. but what if it causes pain just leaning forward to reach that area? For me this causes pain almost immediately in the L testicle and base of the shaft just below the pubic bone. Thanks, Rex
