Since International Women’s Day is coming up…let’s talking about the bean—most of us didn't get a proper clit education.
So today, we’re updating our knowledge rolodex (do they even sell these any more? 🤣). Whether you have one, love someone who does, or are just here for the knowledge, let’s get into six facts about the clit that’ll probably blow your mind (and hopefully other things too).
1. It’s WAY Bigger Than You Think: You know that little button at the top? Yeah, that’s just the tip—literally. The full clitoris is about 3-4 inches long and has internal structures wrapping around the vaginal canal like a wishbone. There’s a whole pleasure playground under the surface.
2. It Has Over 10,000 Nerve Endings: That’s twice as many as a penis. And those nerve endings connect to over 15,000 more throughout the body.
3. The Clit Is Only for Pleasure: No other function. No peeing, no reproduction—just vibes. It’s literally the only organ in the human body designed exclusively for pleasure.
4. It Gets Bigger When Aroused: Just like a penis, the clitoris gets engorged with blood when turned on, making it more sensitive. Some studies say it can expand up to 300% during arousal. So if you think foreplay isn’t necessary… rethink that.
5. Penetration Alone? Probably Not Enough: About 75% of people with vulvas don’t orgasm from penetration alone. Why? Because the clitoris isn’t getting the direct stimulation it needs. So, if you’re skipping over it, you might wanna reconsider your approach!
6. It’s Connected to Brain Chemistry: Stimulating the clit releases dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins, aka the holy trinity of pleasure and bonding. That’s why orgasms can boost mood, reduce stress, and even help with pain relief. Science is sexy. 🔥
