Let's talk VULVA ANATOMY & PELVIC FLOOR MUSCLES-aka, the stuff they should’ve taught us but didn't. If your vulva's (or partner's vulva) been feeling like a drama queen (pain, tightness, weird discomfort during sex??), your pelvic floor might be the culprit. Here's a Patreon exclusive video breaking it all down- check it out and let me know your thoughts in the comments ❤️

You make a valid point, Robert. I agree that we are always judging and discerning situations, people, etc. I honestly don't feel that a "judgement free" zone is entirely possible, but I do believe that we can be mindful of our judgements as they arise and question these judgements especially if it hardens our heart towards others or causes us to behave (physically or verbally) that is hurtful or harmful. 💛

One thing I wanted to say or mention in your video you say we are not making judgment on what should be or shouldn’t be. Then you say we are just gathering information. I don’t mind if someone says this is a judgment free zone however I stopped saying that only because I had a friend/ acquaintance tell me “I’ve already made some kind of judgement when I say this is a judgement free zone”. I wrote him a letter out of care and concern when he went MIA for a year and eventually when he came back he said this to me and said I was taking his inventory… I used to say this when I’d get friends or family in my car on a drive and tell them this is a judgment free zone and you can feel free to say what you want here in this car. Now after that person said I do t use that verbiage I just let people know they can talk to me how they want.

Let us know what you learn!

Absolutely!!!! Thanks, and I hear you!!! It wasn't until around 6 years or so ago I knew nothing about any of this!! I had a number of medical issues pop up that we just kept dealing with one by one. I too had a picc-line under my armpit because I developed three bad blood infections from my psoraisis that required a 6 day hospital stay followed by 8 more days of 30 minute high powered antibiotic infusions in the hospital - those were some scarry times - all of that eventually led me to an assisted stretch individual (to help with my hamstrings and lower back) who was also a personal trainer - that led me to working out with her twice a week for some time - then one day she says that she thinks I would benefit greatly with working with her trainer partner who is a professional Pilates instructor - that is when my world CHANGED for the better and I began to learn about myself in leaps and bounds!!! Turns out wearing my high-top basketball shoes all the time were NOT beneficial and that is when I began to learn about things I never knew about AND how interconnected everything is - then after doing Pilates for some time we realized I have diastasis recti as a guy and how the core connects to my pelvic floor and my feet and how each piece can affect all of the others!!! After working with a PT group that specialized in DR mainly with women I really began to get a serious in depth education on how everything works and is connected - then after a referral to a male pelvic floor specialist PT (who is a female) that my insurance covered with my local medical group and the education continued from there - that led me as a regular guy into totally getting into barre classes which have also led to actual adult ballet classes!!! All of this understanding as to how my feet/toes/ankle flexibility/range of motion and strength and to how that affects my core-lower back-pelvic floor and posture has simply been life changing for the BETTER!!! I have the utmost respect for dancers and especially ballerinas for the total body control - strength - flexibility - range of motion and posture it's amazing!!! The things I see AND learn on a regular basis in my barre classes is just astounding!!! I am the only guy who shows up on a regular basis but everyone to a person has been so kind - helpful and welcoming!!! And how much all of this has helped me - my final step is to get my DR better under control and I will be truly one happy camper!!!!! Sorry to be so long winded but this all has just been so helpful to me I can't overemphasize it!!!

Hey David, I know what you mean, I'll be 62 next month and I'm just learning about my pelvic floor and what all it is connected to in the body. And yes Dr. Susie is a blessing to all of us. I get changing that dressing for your wife, my daughter had a pic-line in her stomach when she was pregnant for my first granddaughter because she couldn't keep any food down. I was scared to death too, mixing up protein bags & connecting them. But we do what we must for those we LOVE!

RJ S

I'm very familiar with my bulbospongiosus and its function, and am now curious about the bulbocavernosus and will need to get my wife to model for me.

Guy (works)

You're very welcome, David! We appreciate your gratitude and appreciation. Our model was comfortable and courageous for sure! 💛

susie@drsusieg.com

Yes, thanks for sharing this information with the rest of us!!! Men usually don't get this kind of thing shared with them, yet we need to understand things as well to help and make sure our partners are getting all the care and love they need and deserve. Also thank your model for being so kind and open to share this with us - much gratefulness and gratitude and I hope she was comfortable during this very vulnerable process all the while sharing with us so we can better understand how everything works and is connected in such a sensitive area!!! Thanks!!!

DVM-David

Absolutely! xo

Thank you so much for sharing!! Not only brings compassion to vulva owners but for men to realize that they aren't alone in this!❤️

Reminds me of my A&P classes in college and while in Medic training.

The pelvic bone in both women and men vary greatly in terms of size and width. Generally male pelvis is more narrow while a female pelvis is wider and rounder in shape. The perineal length differs in that men have most of the genitals on the outside (erecitle tissue) while women have theirs on the inside. The perineal body is the center of the perineum and are pretty much similar in both men and women—parts the same just organized differently .😉

susie@drsusieg.com

There will be a video demonstration of how to use vaginal trainers (dilators) but no internal.

susie@drsusieg.com

Ya me too Guy. I was trying to think back when my kids were born 40 yrs go and how that was such a strain on my x-wife. can't even imagine what that does to a woman's pelvic floor muscles.

RJ S

I'm curious to know more about the muscles in men and women and how their function is the same or differs for each, particularly the bulbocavernosus muscle. Not clear where the connection is at the top of the vulva. The labia majora are not as prominent as I'd expected. How do women react to pelvic exams and therapy in comparison/contrast to men? An erection is pretty obvious so that is the focus of many men's reaction to pelvic therapy. To a point, women's response is less obvious. Does this make women less anxious?

Guy (works)

will there be a part 2 similar to the male assessment?

Tim Kirk

Perfect description of the vulva, this I know, but what I don't know. Is the perineum length, is it the same between male and female or does the male have a longer distance between the genitals and anus?
