Let’s Talk About Scrotal Pain and… Sharts?

Scrotal pain can be nerve-related, muscle-related, or referred from the back or pelvic floor. If it’s sudden or intense, get it checked. If it’s activity-related or comes and goes, pelvic therapy might help.

Sharts? That’s when stool slips or shmears out with gas. It can happen with loose stools, poor sphincter control, or pelvic floor coordination issues.

Both are more common than folks admit. And treatable.

Yes, most definitely!

So... sharts. After I poop, obviously I wipe until there's nothing showing up on the tissue. But, during the day, I'll pass gas, and think nothing of it. I do not sense anything coming out other than... gas. But after a bit, I'll get the feeling down there that it was more than that. I'll go the to bathroom abd wipe again, and it's almost as if I hadn't wiped at all. No loose stool/diarrhea, when I went to the bathroom initially. It's a bit unnerving, and even though my wife and I have been together 25 years, it's a really embarrassing feeling, knowing that my underwear is often "soiled" and she's dealing with doing the laundry. I'm not talking about the usual "skidmarks" in the underwear. It's actually a small amount of poop. Do you think this could be muscle related?

Pain is weird, Rex. There are multiple factors that influence pain and recovery from pain. Pain is protective but sometimes it can get too protective. Dr. Susie, My first L. hernia surgery (of 5) was 29 years ago and did start pain right after. I've kind of come to terms with the fact I probably never get permanent relief. My pain jumps around the genitals, perineum and anus. A resent ultrasound on my R. leg showed so blockage I'll have to get taken care of, but the tech said at one point, that scare on my right side from a peripheral artery surgery in 2013. Has such bad adhesion's it was hard to see past. why didn't it affect me like the left side did, it pains me at times but nothing like left.
