How comfortable are you talking about pelvic health with your healthcare provider?

Talking about your bits shouldn’t feel awkward, but for many folks, it still does. I want to hear from you.
How comfortable do you feel talking about pelvic or sexual health with your healthcare provider? If you're comfortable, what helps with that? If you’re not, or if you tend to avoid it, why? And what might help you feel more at ease?

Bummer, that's disheartening to hear -- it's unfortunate that medical providers are being forced to practice under such institutionalized pressure. I know many risk their financial security starting their own private practices so that they can practice patient-first medicine -- putting care back into healthcare.

2025-07-22 00:33:54 +0000 UTCI have absolutely no problem talking about my sexual and pelvic issues with Dr. Susie and my LMT. I have no problem being completely naked when required during an examination. I live in a conservative culture and have to be careful being a nudist. My PCP is a 15 minute Big Pharma male MD and has no interest in being anything other than that, but he is a competent MD. Three cheers for Dr. Susie !!!!!!!

2025-07-18 12:31:31 +0000 UTCI have a very proactive primary physician and I have a great deal of trust in her care and judgment. However, over the past 10-15 years I’ve noticed a gradual shift. The appointments have gone from very thorough and comprehensive exams and guidance to quick assessments as she’s been put under more and more pressure to see more patients and work under the insurance company limitations. It’s been frustrating for me and also hard to see her struggles in being more and more limited in what she can provide through her care. So it’s much harder to bring up more sensitive or complex questions and concerns around sexual and pelvic health when I’m only seeing her for 15 min max. I’ve ultimately gone through private pay and alternative care approaches to get the kind of care I need.
